Lokathor,
I have only used LaTex once, and it was for an undergrad class long time ago. What simple program do you recommend for converting Tex to PDF nowadays?

Or just cheat on an NPCs skills. There's really no reason a noncombat NPC has to have strict class rules. He can just be a level 1 NPC with a crap ton of skill points to fit the story. I don't care how noncombat scientists are made because they're not PC characters anyway, so they can just be arbit...

What happened to the creator of Zogonia/Mt. Zogon comics?
I have a stack of old Dragon Magazines from the mid 2000s in a storage box, and I remembered just how much I enjoyed the comics Zogonia and Mt. Zogon by Tony Mosely. These two comics used to be available online on his website, as seen in Wayback Machine . Unfortunately, updates just suddenly stopped...

Dragonmech: Reconceptualization
I've started the year with some bad news professionally. So I'm just writing some of my gaming thoughts down here to take my mind off of other things. The world of Dragonmech makes no sense. The world is presented as a normal D&D world prior to the Lunar invasion. After the Lunar invasion starte...

Remedial Martial Training was meant to make Gish concepts possible, hence the ability to cast and attack as one action. Though in retrospect, this ability probably encourages 'cast and fire an arrow' over 'cast and swing with a sword'. And I don't know why people think the feat is too powerful. Cons...

so is Rememdial Martial Training supposed to only be available to casters? I could see a rogue or some such taking Remedial Martial Training and Mystic Dilettante to some effectiveness... Yes, it's meant only for arcane casters. I was ready to tie it to be able to cast arcane spells of X level, but...

Try again. Anyway, how about a 'savage dilettante' feat that gives you the BAB and class abilities (except fast healing) of a barbarian two levels below your own? That creates some nice symmetry for characters that should be primarily magic focused but have a bit of the ol' Conan up their sleeves. A...

Please please please read the book. The book is excellent; the movie turns an intelligent book into an action movie. The movie is fucking brilliant. The book is shallow right wing propaganda attached to some kickass science fiction, the movie is deep political commentary lodged inside an incredibly...

1) That's what I'm aiming for. I don't know if I'm good enough to achieve it. Mech Jockey would probably be broken down into a lot of feats, though. I'm not sure about the Coglayer. Clockwork Ranger would be a Tome Fighter with some feats. Stalker's fine as-is. Fighters would probably be allowed to...

Frank got the gist behind my short and some what truncated post. Letting third party companies or spin-off companies/brands do the niche products was implied yet unwritten portion of my post. My vision of the business is only somewhat different than Frank's. I actually want a somewhat hard restricti...

What about the business strategy? You want a business model that makes money but doesn't piss off the customers. How's this model for a change? Develop and sell only core rule books Let's face it, accessory books will never sell as well as the core rule books. So rather than expending the time and m...

Is 3E losing traction in the D&D community?
Hi guys, Being in grad school and all, I don't do much gaming nowadays. I've noticed that conversations are more 4E-centric now despite the wide agreement that the system is quite bad. Since I haven't actually looked at 4E material (don't care enough), I'll just take your word for it. I remain a fan...

See, Undead never should have had any special rules. Being Undead should have just been a subtype that makes you take damage from cure spells. Seriously, that's all it should have been. The fact that it cam with a bunch of rules baggage was retarded, and necessitated the creation of a bunch more ru...

Grab an Offense sytle (con damage + affect weapons: use a bow or slams), a defense style (+4 AC, +4 Saves) and a movement style (speed + provoke no AoOs). That's a bunch of styles that will be useful at nearly every level. While I see the advantage of rushing in on the first turn using a movement s...

Because with a one level dip you'd just have the Fort save, and provoking half as many saves, and all of them against the strongest defense instead of arguably the weakest (at least before level 15ish), that's a significant tradeoff. Especially since it's just Stun, and Stun is easy to get immunity...

Honestly, the problem is that in Tome rules TWFing is inherently superior to any other form of melee fighting, possible exception for really good wildshapes. TWFing is just flat out better then anything else. Yes that means a TWFing Monk or Bow using Monk are the only types of characters that actua...
