I think Frank's review is 100% spot on when it comes to the Good/Bad. I remember the days of Frank, I, and a few others arguing on Dumpshock about the Matrix crap. CGL hired a lot of SR writers who couldn't take writing that had a jab or three in it, I doubt these guys will like this review either. ...

I'm not making is a "Me vs The World" argument. I am responding to the people who made this a "My way or you're a retard" argument. When it comes to Science Fiction gaming I enjoy a very lengthy and specific skill list. I also tend toward %-dice rolling. This really has nothing t...

While I'm sympathetic to your idea on melee combat being just as good or better than ranged combat in heroic fantasy, you can't claim open-mindedness after someone calls you out on why you expect a specific genre element. An expectation is not the same thing as a demand. You might want to pick up a...

I've always viewed future, and science fiction, are super specific detail driven genres. It reflects in my gaming choices for the genre. Just like I expect Swords and Hammers to be a better mechanical choice than Bows and Crossbows in a Fantasy RPG. The genre reflects on the game. For note, Eve Onli...

Ugh, sorry, skill abstraction and Sci-Fi seriously bug the hell out of me. Fantasy? Pulp Fiction? Sure. Once you start talking about one combat skill in a Sci-Fi game I start walking.

I'd love to see a list of fixes you guys (and frank) would make. I mean, the game is CC after all.

If guns are "legally restricted" then the void is filled with hackers who will just hack stuff and ram it into you.

They have around 500+ followers, so yes.

Frank's letting me gather/correct all of it into one location. I'll have a link in a bit.

So apparently after I tweet the review link Eclipse Phases's twitter account posts this: EclipsePhase EP: Best sci-fi game of the year or flaming pile of fail? You decide! ;) --jack http://tinyurl.com/yav8ynw 10 minutes ago from Echofon Ps. If you're not into Twitter then I should note that tweeting...

First: Man, I did a search. That didn't show up!

Second: Bwahahahahahahahh-ahhhahhh...Oh man. See, this is why I stick around Frank. The responses to his work constantly remind me how absolutely retarded some people are.

Eclipse Phase reviews?

Has anyone read/picked up Eclipse Phase? It's a hefty 50 bucks so I'm looking at you guys (the smart ones) to tell me if it's worth the purchase. Adam Jury and I have always clashed, but I'm loving the work electronically.

Is it worth the buy? WHat's the good/bad?

Yes, I've read Gibson's books. I've also read Stephenson's books, Sterling's, Cadigan's, and many many others.

What I want to play is a more modern version of Cyberpunk. None of the above authors are good for that because they wrote pre-wireless, pre-terabyte, and pre-Google.

If you don't know where things came from, how can you know if you're making something up, or wasting your time building things that you could already grab or modify? Reading allows you to gather masses of ideas much faster than daydreaming could. I never said I haven't read Cyberpunk material. You ...

> if you want a real cyberpunk feel, you need to go to the classics

No, that's the point. I really dislike whatever the hell "real cyberpunk" is. I seriously don't want to make a "real cyberpunk".

Cyberpunk to Ionpunk, taking The End further

Recently I've been taking a look at Frank Trollman's The End works and imagining using it for a more Cyberpunk-y game than Shadowrun. As in without magic, extra races, etc. That said I don't enjoy the technical blunder that Cyberpunk games are. I was thinking that instead of the traditional now-defu...

Introduction

The Fates of Mortals Codex Exoniensis Very often it happens, through God’s might, that man and woman bring into the world a child by birth and clothe him in colors, teach him and tame him until the time comes, after a number of years, that the young limbs become quickened and the child is grown. So...
