He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Thanks, I hadn't previously caught it (or even spotted it) in my removal of services I didn't consider necessary.

I have been doing a lot of flash games since someone here got me into that book of dead or whatever dungeon crawler game. I think I have also discovered the stupidest adventure game puzzle by playing a game that requires you to combine a metal rod with a golden statue of buddha in order to make a crowbar.

Make sure to pick somewhere with a lava pipe and bring plenty of Bauxite for a magma pump and "flood courtyard" switch.

It probably doesn't matter for overall fortress success, but everything's better with a magma-flooded courtyard.

I'm going to try to beat Battletoads again without savestates.

I'm able to beat all of the other levels except... you know what without losing any lives, but I've never tried doing it one after the other. I've just been practicing them separately, trying to get them down to a science. So now it's time to try playing them all at once.

My biggest problem is... I can't beat Terra Tubes. They send you back ridiculously far if you die and the level requires Kaizo-precision timing. The furthest I've gotten with a full slate of lives and continues is that part where the grey fish go nuts and try to kill yo' ass.

But I have a solution to this. I am going to try to get PUMPED. I know I have it in me! I just need my coffee, my chocolate spoons, and to watch some Teen Titans and Batman: TAS.

WISH ME LUCK Y'ALL

Indeed, I hope for your good fortune. Perhaps I can distract myself away from downloading Dwarf Fortress again if I try out Kaizo Mario World. At least the first couple of stages look pretty fun.

After several harrowing weeks with no access to gaming, I finally got Dell to send me a fucking replacement adapter. It only took three calls, on the last of which I was transferred no fewer than three times, in order to end up AT THE DEPARTMENT I ORIGINALLY CALLED.

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts (the first one). I've never played it before, and I've been putting off trying it out because what I'd heard didn't appeal much to me.

I'm genuinely surprised at how good the game is. I mean, the Final Fantasy-meets-Disney stuff is cheesy, but it's handled a lot better than it could have been.

The gameplay? Some enemies are annoying, but it's often awesome. Especially with boss fights. In fact, I kind of overleveled at the beginning, because I was having fun with the duels (and getting used to the combat). Also, the extra experience for parrying and the like is a nice touch.

The items are a pain, though. I can see the point of limiting how many you can use in battle, but restocking is something I often forget to do.

The Gummi ships took a while to get the hang of, but I went ahead and built one from scratch, and consciously used "More Dakka" as a design principle. The one I built had about six of the basic guns, four of the upgrades (two of those turned sideways so they V vertically), so it covers of a lot of area and obliterates anything in front of it. Then I piled on all the engines and wings I could fit onto it. After building the body out of Dispels.

I'm at Hollow Bastion. The place is awesome, and the situation and setting give having Beast as a partner more gravitas. And, oddly enough, vice-versa.

I really liked Kingdom Hearts. Particularly, the gummi ship building often sucked up hours at a time. I like building a "ship" which looks like a flotilla of really small ships with a slightly bigger flagship in the middle. If you stay overleveled, I definitely recommend trying the beat the optional bosses in the arena. Both are very satisfying fights, and the weaker of the two might be the best method of late-game grinding. I got to the max possible level by using Guard to reflect its projectiles.

Currently playing the Cortex Command demo, and I've added somewhere around 30 mods. This is really fun. It's even Mac-compatible.

Tell me if this is insane or not.

Was there a Saturn version of Symphony of the Night? I can't find any record of it on Gamefaqs other than people mentioning it in passing on the boards. Am I imagining it?

Wikipedia has something.
In 1998, Symphony of the Night was ported to the Sega Saturn, and exclusively released in Japan. It included extra features such as extra playable characters, an expanded weapons and items list and two map areas that are unavailable on any of the other releases.

Ah, so I didn't imagine it. Another question: What was the reasoning for using the PSX release of SotN instead of the Saturn version for the recent port to PS3 and Xbox? I am glad to replay it again, but I would have wanted the Saturn version instead.

Maybe incompatible code? I'd guess that the data was lost be the most likely answer. Much the same reason I'll never get to see an uncut version of my favorite RPG ever.

Wikipedia wrote:Unfortunately, due to poor coding, there are more and longer load times.[17] Since the Saturn has limited hardware transparency support, transparency effects, such as the mists and the waterfall, were replaced with dithering effects. [18] Also, rather than take advantage of the Saturn's increased resolution, the graphics are stretched to fill the screen, which causes some sprites to be distorted. The overall quality is said to be lower than the PlayStation version due to it being a simple port handled by another team, and not being recoded to take advantage of the Saturn's technically superior 2D capabilities.[19] Igarashi has expressed his disdain for the Sega Saturn version.[20]

Ah, that's reasonable. I suppose that recoding it might be a bit pricy for a 800 point game on live. I mostly wanted the three playable characters and the two new sections of the castle, but I can deal.

I've been playing Bowser's Inside Story. It confirms what I always suspected: Bowser might be belligerent and kind of stupid, but in all honesty he's justified in how pissed off he is at the Mushroom Kingdom.

I'm pretty solid. Also, just about every stat-increasing item I find goes to Sora, on the basis that I can't play as someone else (it's a shame. I wanted to play as Jack in Halloween Town) and that if he gets taken out, it's game over.

I was amused by being partnered up with Beast at the beginning of Hollow Bastion, though. My usual playstyle is really aggressive since I haven't found anything yet that can ignore a full combo with all those abilities turned on.

And then Sora got gimped for a while, so I found myself relegated to a support character with the job of keeping Beast's HP and MP topped up while he killed everything we ran into.

For what it's worth, the new new sections are extremely tiny (one is just a "bridge" area), and there's only one new boss.
