Healthy Teeth!!!!

Post by Cynic »

I recently did a stupid thing and bit down on my lower lip during a seizure and removed pretty much a large chunk of it. My mouth feels as exposed as a kid wearing only overalls with the back undone.

The doc told me to rinse with a 50/50 Hydrogen peroxide & water solution. That's pretty much my sanitation and any other regimen for my mouth currently as it hurts like hell to brush.

While looking it up online, I found that H2O2 or hydrogen peroxide is a great plaque remover. I was wondering if anyone knew of other great home remedies for taking care of your teeth.

Well for a long time I have been using hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash after baking soda for brushing my teth. Smoking means that nothing really works to get rid of the smell, but baking soda goes a long way for cleaning with minor abrasive, and at the same time absorbing the odors, and it doesn't taste that bad.

This of course was before they came out with baking soda tooth paste, and you just wet the brush and dip into your baking soda to load the brush.

If you cannot brush at all, I don't know what to say, but if you can and are worried about pain form the toothpaste, then baking soda itself may be the best choice other than a twig of beech for a toothbrush. :S

Chewing Lavender blossoms, Pine needles, fresh rosemary or basil leaves - especially like a licorice or thai basil will refresh the mouth. But remember that some pine needles and things like lavender are also poisonous in larger (like you could get in a mouthful or two) doses, so spit them out.

I think I have regenerating teeth. If I go without brushing for a few days, then one or two teeth will become sensitive to cold and certain foods. Like having a cavity that needs filling (though granted, I'm pretty sure it takes more than just a few days of not brushing for those to form to that level). When I then go back to brushing, suddenly the sensitivity goes away and I'm fine again.

When I had braces, and regularly developed mouth ulcers, I found the best way to be able to brush without crazy pain was to get teething gel for babies (it's not the stuff that smells/tastes like aniseed and starts off burning before numbing with lignocaine. It tastes like nothing and immediately numbs, possibly with cocaine*) and rub that over the lips and gums. After that, you could brush with a wire brush and H2SO4** and you probably wouldn't feel anything.

*You could possibly just use cocaine instead, but I don't recommend this. I love me some painkiller drugs and all, but I know coke is bad shit, and Frank's journal just reinforces that.

**I don't recommend this either.

Koumei: Teeth sensitivity isn't cavity based. It's just the wearing down of the protective layer. Not sure why, but I use to have that problem a lot before all the nerves in my mouth died.

Not kidding by the way.

Not sure what happened, but I seriously can't feel shit around most of my teeth. In fact, broke off a huge chunk of one at some point, and didn't have dental at the time, so never got it fixed. That was four years ago, it hasn't hurt since.

I also currently have 12 cavities (when last at dentist) and two teeth in serious need of root canal.

I never have any kind of pain at all.
