I want a really kickass phone.
What does the Den recommend? I value being able to get a signal the most, followed by the ability to play homebrew on it.

Your freedom to add and change rules in the middle of the game is in direct conflict with my ability to understand that rules system before I decided whether or not to join your game.
In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. You do not want me to be informed when I make the fundamental decisions of deciding whether to join your game or buying your rules system.
Well. Mid-range phones suck - their apps won't be supported after twelve months of shelf life, and they often are left with stupid bugs and errors that should have never been in the product.
Sammi uses the Samsung Moment. It's pretty awesome, but a terrible phone. Android OS has good homebrew, but there's too many things locked into it.
Basically, anything that can access the big carriers will come with big locked in features. Why can't I delete the demos that came with my phone? I don't know. But I can't.

Go with Sprint and get the Evo 4G (the newest Android phonezor). They're really cheap for unlimited data, unlimited mobile-to-mobile, etc. Their coverage usually reaches areas that other carriers don't.
Current pet peeves:
Misuse of "per se". It means "[in] itself", not "precisely". Learn English.
Malformed singular possessives. It's almost always supposed to be 's.

And strangely, have the same hardware but different software.Neeeek wrote:Sadly, the alpha versions of the top-of-the-line phones are evidently far superior to anything that's ever been released. It seems those versions were simply to expensive to make saleable.
Not that we'd like to use the options in our phones and all :P
I've found that Sprint coverage is poor in many areas, so if you're rural at all do some double checking of coverage with a friends' or loaner phone first. Anywhere that had an EVDO network Sprint opted not to upgrade to their 3G or 4G stuff. So while I've had 4G coverage, it's only been in recently-covered areas of the US like rural Nevada, and I barely get EVDO at my home.

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

Second that. Verizon just wants to get your money and will lie to do so. I had a bogus $500 charge on my phone because the sales person lied and said I was signed up for a text plan (even charged me for one!) and didn't give it to me. A friend had a $1100 bill in a month for a similar issue.Prak_Anima wrote:I advise against Verizon. It's the most expensive company and you don't necessarily get what you pay for.
Verizon has yet to get with the times, cell phones aren't solely for rich executives who can blow hundreds of dollars a month for the newest toys.
In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.

Never been a Cingular/AT&T customer, have you? Their customer service departments are equally shitty. Verizon just happens to have more towers & better cell coverage then AT&T, and AT&T has the iPhone.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:Second that. Verizon just wants to get your money and will lie to do so. I've been a customer of Altell (which was a lot better than Verizon but it no longer exists), and I've been a customer of Tracphone, Net10, and Virgin Mobile (Tracphone and Net10 were shitty, Virgin Mobile wasn't that bad if you want a cheap phone with a decent plan).Ganbare Gincun wrote:Never been a Cingular/AT&T customer, have you? Never been a Cingular or ATT customer, heard too many bad stories about them.
