Dom3: Revenge of the Den

TC's situation is pretty dire. TC's army size is in irreversible decline if they keep fighting Chelms and maintain the existing attrition rate. Which Chelms expects to maintain given TC's relatively poor research.
That's gonna get worse once we take one of his three forts - which my armies are already positioned to do. After that, the capital is also just a short march away which would put a stop to Ancestor Vessel production.
And this is all before Agartha or Ulm even gets involved.

Have we put up an add for a sub on Shrapnel or whatever? (Apologies if we have and I missed it.)
I like Rabelais suggestion. Failing that I would even be comfortable with someone from the other side of the map playing out the last years of the TC empire as long as they promised to be impartial, and not to strip it or make it act for their advantage.

My preference would still be a new player. I don't think any of us have put up an ad in Shrapnel yet.
Also, I'll just note that having a mandatory cease fire is rather unfair to Chelms. We have an opportunity to take away a third of his national troop production already. Giving TC breathing room just gives him time to mass even more troops when I should already be knocking him out.

On a related note, is anyone interested into subbing into another game as Arcosephale? Apparently the nation is struggling a bit, but its not as irredeemable as TC seems to be in this game.

If you get in a real bind, I'd be willing to step in and play TC. However, I'm a complete newb to Dom3 (as in, I own the game, but I've never played). I'm willing to ride a nation down to disaster if that's preferable to going AI, but I can't promise to be better than even the AI.

No, I agree with Zinegata that if he/they were killing TC before, no sense in punishing them by giving me a couple turns to better prepare. I'll do the best I can to make it as costly as possible for him to win, but if I get put in the game, we might as well get on with it as soon as I can.Rabelais wrote:Do you think you will need the hypothetical breather offered upthread?

Let me try to get up to speed here. This is Late Age, right? Tien Chi is being attacked by Agartha and Chelms, because... we attacked Agartha or something?
Do I have any allies or trading partners? What kind of research am I known to have (obviously I'll find out when I get the turns.) I have 3 forts, 1 under siege, and a fuckton of cavalry. Is my god active?

This is a good summary of the situation.
Zinegata wrote:Lemme try to give some more details...
TC is currently at war with Man (played by me). Agartha has formally declared war on them and will start attacking in 3 turns. Ulm may or may not be at war with TC, but I think I saw him grab one TC province.
TC had risen to be a mid-sized nation due to a large army of Ancestor Vessels (with Water 9 Bless) and cavalry. But they are very behind on research, and have only 3 forts to recruit nationals from. Man is threatening to take one of these forts already.
Man is using large armies of Wind Guide/Flaming Arrow archers. TC has been burning up Ancestor Vessels and thugged Khans against them. Losses are heavy on both sides, but TC's losses so far are greater than their replacement rate. Man's replacement rate, meanwhile, well exceeds our loss rate.
And yes, Man has pretty good intel on TC .
----
Diplomatically, TC's history was as follows:
TC bordered Agartha to the west, Man to the north, and Ulm + Gath in the south.
Agartha and Man have a longstanding NAP, and are virtually allies.
TC had a NAP with Agartha and Man.
Ulm and Gath went to war, with Gath mostly crushing Ulm.
TC, secretly with Agartha's urging, then invaded Gath. However, Gath secretly had a defensive treaty with Man, so Man entered the war on Gath's behalf.
TC took most of Gath while Man was still mobilizing. TC then secretly entered into an agreement with Agartha wherein they ceded some Gathian lands to the Agarthans in exchange for what was apparently a NAP-3.
Man found out about the secret deals between Agartha and TC, after diplomatic talks with TC. After Man confronted Agartha, the Agarthans decided to DoW TC to maintain their alliance with Man.
If you have any more specific questions regarding Man's dealings with TC, I can answer them via PM. Because the diplomatic cluster**** that led to the "Great Eastern War" was really rather remarkable.

Chelms now, you have an NAP with Agartha that is OVER on turn 37. So that's your time limit to completely eradicate the innumerable armies of Man in time to face the Ktonian Horde.Orion wrote:Tien Chi is being attacked by Agartha and Chelms, because... we attacked Agartha or something?
Anyone who isn't Chelms, Agartha, Ulm, or Gath I guess. Though Gath may be iffy at this point.Orion wrote:Do I have any allies or trading partners?
I've only ever seen TC use massed Ancestor Vessels in combat so I have no clue. At least Construction 4 though.Orion wrote:What kind of research am I known to have (obviously I'll find out when I get the turns.)
3 forts, none under siege, though one with a bunch of Chelmians camping outside. You indeed have a fuckton of cavalry but Man's army is at least 3 cubic fucktons. As far as I know your god is active.Orion wrote:I have 3 forts, 1 under siege, and a fuckton of cavalry. Is my god active?
Hope that helps, don't make it too easy on us.
Okay, somebody will need to explain to me the tech side of this. I have no idea where to get the turns from or how to send them in or anything.
How does my sacreds' fear bow actually work anyway? Does the fear still go off if it gets shield blocked? Does it force an immediate morale check, or just impose a morale penalty? Will it stack?

Korwin has to change the email address associated with the nation. Then you should either get an email from the server or click the "request turn resend" button on the game page that the OP links to.Orion wrote:Okay, somebody will need to explain to me the tech side of this. You will then create a folder in your saved games folder, I think it can be titled anything, but for clarity it should probably be some variation on "Revenge of the Den." You will get a .trn file from the server. Put that file in the folder you have created. You should then see the folder name as an available game in your saved games folder. It should contain the turn for the nation who's .trn file you have. Play your turn, then end the turn. After you have ended the turn and are happy with it, you should open your email and send an email to turns(at)llamaserver(dot)net. Find the 2h file in your folder for the game, attach that to your email, and send it in. If all goes well, you should receive an email saying that the server has your turn and that there is nothing wrong with it.
Glad to have you onboard Orion. Let's get this show rolling again.
And yes, I don't have any fort under siege yet, but I have a massive force waiting outside of one. I'd like to note that the force ratio for this upcoming battle for both sides is almost the same as the Second Battle of Akesta, and in that battle TC cavalry suffered catastrophic losses and were defeated due to Chelmian flaming arrows.

How far forward do I have to place composite bowmen to make sure they can shoot at Chelms' longbowmen?
EDIT: Am I correcting in figuring that my cavalry do 37 damage on a lance charge?
