It's America, Stahlseele, she probably will.
Not that I disapprove if she does. School shootings are the natural result of:
A) Vending machine assault rifles
and B) No real action being taken to curb bullying/sexual assault
Hell, I still consider the possibility that, had I solved a problem in high school with a 50-cal, then I would probably be out of prison now, happier and more fucking employable. So I wish her the best of luck in her retribution, doubly-so if she does it Casey-style and piledrives them.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

I have to admit, there is a very cynical part of me that says yay when I read this. Not for any other reason than that I half expected the article to say something like, "The court decreed that the woman would have to marry her attacker," or something.Stahlseele wrote:Eye for an Eye . . LITERALLY

I read about this a while back. I can't believe that throwing acid in the face of a woman who's spurned you has turned into a thing happens. While splashing acid in the attacker's eyes seems a tad barbaric, if they publicize it well enough so that it acts as a deterrent then maybe it will be a net benefit.Stahlseele wrote:Eye for an Eye . . Yeah, I mean, 13 is almost the point where it's no longer pedophilia, but ephebophilia.

Haven't a clue how I messed that one up. Typo? Whoops.

Well this is America, where underage strippers are legal, right?
(That's a news link, not an ad for their services. It's clean but you'll still feel bad after reading it)
I originally read it on sankakucomplex (not linking, it's built out of NSFW pixels, even the binary behind it all looks suggestive), where I assumed it was just made up for "Tabloid Rage" or "See, isn't the West even worse than Glorious Japan?" factor. But no, it linked to the source there.
So I don't think you could possibly shock me with a tale of paedophilia in America.

Speaking of underage strippers and pedophilia, leave it to the Rodeo Queens.

Prak: I think the implication is that its unethical to use sick Horses. I can totally understand this sentiment. I just find it absolutely surreal that you switch a live breathing 500-600* lb animal with a lint-plagued, 3 lb toy.
I bet that they wouldn't do this with the cowboys. I mean who ever heard of horse stick loving cowboys?
*edit: I was told by my wife that Ponies are usually 500+ lbs rather than 200-300lb animals.

No, I realize that. I realize what they're saying is that "Equine Herpes is not passed through sexual contact, but rather any contact, but is not a threat to humans." but to a filthy mind it can be construed in... other ways.Cynic wrote:Prak: I think the implication is that its unethical to use sick Horses. so here's a more in-depth article of the cheerleader rape thing
link
tbh i side with the school in that was a frivolous lawsuit. if she wanted to go to the school board to complain that her rapist was still playing football (and even after he threatened to kill various persons) then yeah, that works. but suing because the school allegedly violated her freedom of speech? no.
fact is, she should have stopped cheerleading if it caused her so much emotional distress. she didn't have to make a giant fucking scene where she knelt down and refused to cheer. on top of that--which i realize sounds callous--but the grand jury cleared the alleged rapists of charges (later they reinstated them but they were cleared at the time of this incident from what I can tell).
so what is the school supposed to do? say "nope sorry you were accused of a crime and we totally think you're guilty so you can't play on the team"? sorry dawgs that ain't how law and order work. innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz.
and so let's pretend the school does kick the accused off the team. the article states that the NAACP started sniffing around. so they kick the black guy out and what happens? fucking massive lawsuit from professional race-baiters. oh boy wouldn't that be a joy to slog through. and then the school would undoubtedly lose the case and be fined and then the teachers would have to go racial awareness counseling
so yeah this story is more complicated than it seems from a first glance.

I figured there was more to the story than was previously reported; I find it hard to believe that a school could be so callous.
However, suing the schools is a useless gesture. There are legal maximums to how much money a judge will award someone in such a lawsuit, and it's way lower than the legal fees would be. It will take money from the schools and take even more money from the plaintiffs. I'm thinking someone didn't think their cunning plan all the way through.
(When I was on the receiving end of some rather brutal gay bullying when I was in high school, my mom got results by threatening to call Oprah. Threatening lawsuits didn't work, my dad threatening to kick the principal's ass didn't work, but the threat of Oprah did...)

There does need to be a mechanism in place for punishing bad decisions by people in authority. Stealing money from the school is perhaps a bad one, but if there were active charges (or investigation, or whatever) concerning the matter, it's completely understandable that she would have refused to cheer. And there's no reason for her to be kicked off the squad because of that, at all, because then we're punishing a potential victim.
Someone needs a brick upside the back of the head here. Being asked to cheer for someone you are currently accusing of rape in a court of law, OR give up that entire aspect of your social life, is pretty damn unfair.

I didn't see the incident, so I can't affirm my suspicions, but my sister was a cheerleader for years. Cheerleaders in formation who aren't actively cheering at the moment frequently hold a kneeling pose until it's their turn to start cheering again.Psychic Robot wrote:she didn't have to make a giant fucking scene where she knelt down and refused to cheer.
In my mind, the picture looks more like the student who stands but refuses to say the pledge, not a hysterical girl making a scene.
Really, I think the therapist was dead wrong when they told the girl to go back to the same school. If the school environment is so hostile that the sister transfers schools, keeping the victim in the same place as her attacker is just torture.
