You know, not to restart the huge hipster debate again, but I don't think I've ever met people like how you describe. I know people that dress like hipsters and listen to obscure music, but they aren't condescending. They enjoy sharing their music and enjoy it when talented bands make it mainstream.

I think what we really are hating on are assholes, not hipsters.

Given that the lowest common taxonomy they have in common is Order Aranea, i.e. "they are both spiders at all", any offspring that would result (probably none) would almost certainly be sterile. Which is a blessing for the world at large given what happened that other time we did something like that.
