You can take more than one Leadership feat, however you can only have one cohort at a time. Which isn't a problem in this case, granted.
You can also swap Army of Demons for Master of Terror if you think it'd fit better and don't want to double-up on them, I don't mind.
The next normal feat level is 9. You guys are seventh level at the moment.

So that wouldn't be a problem.
And I am not sure. I might switch feats then just to get Mariko on board. I'll explain her in detail via PM then.
Two more levels? Sounds fine to me.

I sent Koumei a PM about Kuniko's sister, who might end up being a cohort.
I forgot to say she's sort of like a female Almaz on the ship in terms of personality, if a little bit more childish and/or girly than he is.
And that Prestige Class sounds (and looks) cool, if a little disturbing on some parts.

I thought I'd have an easier time with building than cohort, but yeah.
Any idea what spells to pick for a character with three levels of Beguiler?
(Also sorry for double post)

While the latter bit is good, sorry to hear you lost your job. You didn't purposefully get the sack just so you could play, right?
Also: how are people with the idea of another player joining as a sort of temp/reserve, to help the numbers when people don't show up? I don't want to bring it to 7 full-time players plus like 5 cohorts, but given a few people tend to be missing from any given session... I figure that could work, but I want to know how you guys feel.

I'm fine with reserves. Also, I got kicked out for sucking at the job last month, but I'm actually kinda relieved.
...now if only there was an Aquamancer version of the Fire / Ice / Wind Mage classes. And should Strength be a dump stat for the Ice Mage / Beguiler?

Oh, and is this feat allowed for my Cohort?
Subtle Magic [Metamagic]
You woke up to a new spell you cast in your sleep. You're not sure what it does.
Highest Spell Level Available
0: You gain Eschew Materials as a bonus feat. The DC to identify your magic with Spellcraft is increased by 5, as is the DC to recognize your enchantments with Sense Motive.
3: All but your highest spell level, are automatically treated as if subject to the Still and Silent Spell feats.
6: All of your summons gain a +5 enhancement bonus to Hide & Move Silently. Except for those affected, spells have a base DC of 15 against Spot & Listen to be noticed; they glide in like owls in the night.
9: Creatures that succeed at a saving throw are not intuitively aware they were targeted by a spell.

This being an IRC game, it's not like we're running out of physical space in a cramped attic, but I think the numbers have been at a good point for most of the recent sessions, and with some of the cohorts and minions, it's sometimes starting to push towards too many. While we're usually short one or two players out of the group, so a temp/reserve player isn't a problem, I do feel compelled to point out that Icy's recent unemployment probably means he'll be gaming with us a bit more regularly - meaning that we might see a bit of full attendance. However my own schedule is potentially subject to immediate upheaval, so it's not like I really want to argue in favor of locking potential new players out.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

I only now noticed how many magic items the others have on them compared to Kuniko. Anyway, I'm statting up Mariko right now, and I doubt there's a problem with giving her a slight Strength-boost item given she wouldn't have any other magic items.
Edit: Goddamn it, where's the weight for Brigandine armor?

Looks like I'll be a bit late tonight. As a sort of consolation, if anyone's been wondering about the flag we sail under, I sketched it out while hanging out at Starbucks:

needs a bit of work still, but there it is.

I don't think that would be a good idea. Could complicate loot distribution, and if the reserve player starts getting into the adventure (either by the character becoming more relevant or the player just loving it more) it'd be as good as just plain having a 7th. Either we have six and we are full, or we're now going to have seven that are balanced through spotty attendance.Koumei wrote:Also: how are people with the idea of another player joining as a sort of temp/reserve, to help the numbers when people don't show up? Okay, session called off due to massive oversleep by MC. I guess I'll see everyone next week -.-
I see your points, it probably is best to stick with 6 and just allow Nax to watch the game. It's nice to run a popular game, but always sad to turn people away.
Icy: well, there's a metric fuck-tonne of items in this place, if it helps. From the Accidental Executioner prize (and it occurs to me that teaming up with someone who can go "+5 to Saves, yaaaay" actually does mean you have a pretty good chance), to the random stuff in storage.
Prak: nice flag!
Probably missed questions from people... more sleep

Been watching TTGL, and was inspired to write up a joke weapon quality. It wound up being more than a simple joke, and quite fitting for the game, so I figured I'd post it for vetting by Mistress Cavern if anyone wants it. (text could use some polish...)
Minor Magic Weapon Quality: Dramatic
Some people have weapons that follow the basic rules of drama. A well timed cocking, a sword that takes your entire speech to draw, etc. In addition to your weapon taking as long to prepare as the speech you make while doing so (allowing amazingly long sword blades with the right badass boast, even to the point of defying armspan), it also hits harder when it matters most (doubles base crit range before additions to crit range), and allows you to avoid attacks when in a tight spot, (add the weapon's enhancement bonus, and your key ability modifier, strength if melee, dex if ranged or finessed, to your AC). Finally, once per session, you may take a move, standard or full round action to make a speech, a badass boast, or the like. A move action speech grants a +1d6 to damage, a standard action speech +2d6, and a full round speech grants +2d8 damage for the remainder of the encounter. This bonus damage only applies to the enemy you give it to, but will kick in every time you face that enemy in the session. While a single chosen enemy will take no action against you while you perform this speech, it does leave you vulnerable to other enemies.

Definitely intent on being awake to run this week. No matter what. I mean, we're starting with a Couples' Eating Contest!
And people are free to try to figure out what aspects of this campaign are borrowed from various anime/manga. To make it easier I'll list the series:
Agent Aika
Freezing
Kämpfer
Shitsurakuen
And yes, look forward to more bizarre mini-games in future~
(Though I won't be implementing every single mini-game system I've written up - I don't foresee you needing to cook bees at any time)

beliefs & superstitions:
- A black dittybag is bad luck for a seaman
- Avoid redheads and flat footed people on the way to the ship before starting a new journey. They are bad luck, but this can be countered if one talks to the redhead before the redhead speaks to them.
- A stolen piece of wood mortised into the keel will make a ship sail faster. (The Rhododendron Rampant has a piece of wood stolen from a church holy symbol mortised onto it)
- Pouring wine on the deck will bring good luck on a long voyage.
- Dolphins swimming with the ship will bring good luck
- It is bad luck to kill dolphins, albatross or gulls (the latter two contain the souls of men who died at sea.)
- A crewman with 50 years of service will go to Fiddler's Green when he dies.
- The feather of a wren slain on New Years Day, will protect a sailor from dying by shipwreck.
- The caul of the head of a new-born child is protection against drowning and will bring the owner good luck.
- Cats aboard are good luck
- Priests aboard are bad luck
- A ship’s bell that rings without human aid is an omen of death
- Stones thrown into sea will bring bad luck, but coins thrown while leaving port will bring good.
- Touching Cold Iron will protect one from elemental forces
