These threads make the WoW boards seem civilized.

And they're not.

I think that's why we laugh and cry at these threads.

Because whenever /b/ decides to mourn a celebrity who may or may not be dead yet, the line is always "Good night, sweet prince."

Yabathewhat has been added to my list of terminally stupid people. Because clearly an Erinyes won't feel like an Erinyes unless it has +10 to strength (racial). +6 isn't good enough.

Squirrelloid's games sound pretty neat.

Also I kinda wish AT would post here. It'd be good to have someone reasonable who disagrees with stuff around.

Don't forget about the dropping AMFs and MDJs too.

IMO antimagic field, greater dispel, and mordenkainen's disjunction are the three most effective spells a fighter can cast.

Oops, I mean can't cast.

From the fighter are as powerful as spellcasters thread

archcomponent;12138170 wrote:Amen. This right here is someone who really knows how to run a game. It is simple common sense for a BBEG to take elaborate and expensive steps to counteract the power of the party's casters. Ignoring that is just favoring the caster characters, and no wonder you would get the impression that casters are overpowered.

However, enemies taking steps that hamper the effectiveness of fighter are just a sign that the DM is being a jerk. I mean, read my post above. Ignoring that is just favoring the caster characters, and no wonder you would get the impression that casters are overpowered.

That is what this caster favoritism boils down to, simple DM metagaming and favoritism. The rest of you need to learn how to run a game correctly.

I love this one, it okay to screw one person over because he is a caster but if he is a fighter and you do the same thing that is being a jerk.

NO ass screwing people over is screwing them over. Intelligent BBEG will do things to screw the fighter too.

How can you even tell? I've grown slightly wary about thinking that after seeing more than one such diatribe I would have certainly attributed to over-the-top ridicule only to find out later it was a heartfelt opinion on how the warlock is INSANE!!!1!1one1 (For example.)

Actually I think there is a grain of truth to his idea even if I completely disagree with his general argument. In general, spellcasters are far more complex than fighters. They have a variety of different tactics that can be employed in various combinations and one has to be prepared for any combination of them.

A fighter on the ohter hand, no matter how many complex combat maneuvers he knows basically either attacks in meele or attacks in range. You can position minions, set up basic defenses, and reserve a simple contingency plan to deal with the annoying fighters.

So it's not that you should screw over fighters more or less than casters but that you need to take personal control over the caster screwing. Pulling the lever that opens the pit traps between you and the barbarians is a no brainer. (Oh yea I did throw in that illusion floor right next to those traps ... how nice of you all to try to jump the pits for me.) Trying to figure out if the wizard is going to fireball/lightning or dimension door behind you is the part you need to pay constant attention to because if you don't you're toast.

(Oh and reserve a minion for the department of healing annoyance.)
