Mike Mearls almost certainly deserves his own Mearlsian definition. But I haven't seen anyone specifically attach his name to the concept of 'hyping buzzworded vaporware projects to an ignorant gaming community and subsequently ducking accountability by censorship, denialism, fandom bootlicking, and (especially) hyping brand new buzzworded vaporware projects while quietly abandoning the previous set'. But when/if we get a few posters doing that, it should totally go on the list. Next playtest release for sure.

In short, your entire post is dismissive of not merely my intelligence, but my agency. And I don't mean agency as a player within one of your games, I mean my agency as a person. You do not want me to be informed when I make the fundamental decisions of deciding whether to join your game or buying your rules system.

Popeye doesn't need to each spinach to do many of his impossible feats; it just turbocharges what he can already do. Popeye did not need spinach to roast a Giant Roc in a volcano to create a giant turkey dinner bigger than a house (which he then mocked Sinbad the Sailor with) or to convert his pipe into a blowtorch to cut through a foot of rock (Ali Baba and the 40 thieves episode).John Magnum wrote:Wait, how does Popeye's spinach not qualify as phlebotinum?

Popeye is a Charles Atlas Superhero and "The Spinach" is a representation of his clean living/good eating rather than some storehouse of magic pixie dust spinach that gives him superpowers.
Sometimes this gets mixed up and "The Spinach" turns into a magic elixer, these are the times when Wimpy eats a can and lifts a car, or somesuch. But those are rare deviations.

Could I suggest that if this is intended as an actually useful reference for people that all definitions are updated in the original post?
5 Moves of doom / 5MOD / Scripting: A system where there is an optimum sequence to use your limited use powers, causing every fight to play out using the same pattern of attacks.
Defaulting: Using a safe, well known general purpose attack rather than looking through your ability list for a more applicable attack each round. Generally associated with overlong ability lists (See D&D casters)
RNG: Random Number Generator. The total of all the random results that could be generated in whatever system you are using. For example, in a D20 system the RNG range is 1-20.

Pretty sure I've seen this brought up before, if not directly I'm pretty sure it's what Lago is ranting about when he says high level fighters trying to be "Greatest Swordsman in The World" just doesn't work when there's also Wizard/Cleric/Druid being "Master of the Mystic Art"/"Supreme Channeler of Godly Power"/"Avatar of Primal Nature".
Angel Summoner & BMX Bandit: From The sketch of the same name from That Mitchel & Webb Look. Describes a situation where one character is clearly gimped relative to others because his shtick is severely limiting in a way other's arent.

I don't think that the RNG originated on the Gaming Den, or is unique to this site. Source?Red_Rob wrote: RNG: Random Number Generator. The total of all the random results that could be generated in whatever system you are using. For example, in a D20 system the RNG range is 1-20.
BTW, it would be great if people could find the origin/source of terms for things like this in the future.

While not Denspeak, personally I like the alternate term I came up with: Paizombie.Mister_Sinister wrote:Paizil: A fan of Paizo's work, who typically exhibits a lack of analytical proof for their preferences, instead citing Paizo marketing or putting forward stupid arguments that don't come from evidence.
