So does anyone know anything about light bulbs? Are there multiple types of E17 sockets? As in intermediate, large, candelabra and others or does it only come in the single E17 intermediate size?
I'm curious because of a bedside clamp-based lamp we had purchased at IKEA a year ago. The bulb went out and it's an e17 reflector led. Suffice to say, this isn't available at most home improvement stores.
I can order it online but I'm looking for an exact replacement. But i was hoping for a bulb that doesn't generate heat. On amazon I see an E17 intermediate to E26 converter socket. I do have a spare E26 bulb lying around. It does fit the contours of the lampshade but obviously doesn't go into the socket.
I'm really a little out of my depth.

I suspect the all purpose hardware store advice of "bring the doohickey along to the store and ask someone" is likely applicable.
But here's the relevant wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edison_screw#Types

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

Is this what you're looking for?
Short of having someone go to Ikea and buy you one there, you're probably better off with the adapter.
I found another light bulb (here) but it's ridiculously expensive.
Wait... There's always eBay

Yeah, I went for the adapter. It came out to be only 2$ cheaper but I just didn't want to go through the hassle of driving to IKEA (it is about 25 miles away -- plus I'm damned lazy) or spending an insane amt of money to get a light bulb.
