It's just failure of a poster to format tags properly, isn't it?

We get onto a new page and ignore the problem until fbmf fixes it.
That's the most retarded thing I've heard in a while.
So, since Energy Damage is reduced by Energy Resistance and negated by Energy Immunity, does that mean that Force effects have been clarified to be unresistable? If they aren't "Energy" you can't be resistant or immune to them...

Negative energy and positive energy are damage types, but they are not considered energy types the way that acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic are.

Isn't that how it worked already? You never hear "Force Energy" after all. Having positive energy and negative energy specifically not count as energy sounds retarded though.

Tzor has a second "quote" tag where he should have a "/quote" tag, and apparently the forum isn't smart enough to filter out unmatched tags.
Re: PHB 2 Errata is up! (???????)
Frank, I haven't ever seen anything treat force just like it treated acid - there's a bunch of ways to resist force damage that I recall, but none actually calls it energy damage.
And now I feel tempted to include a bunch of "{quote}" tags ...

Oh right, I have not read a single line from the Rules Compendium. And the bit on Positive and Negative energy is quite stupid.

I was surprised that new errata was being issued at all, rather than being too concerned with the specific details. It looks like we'll be seeing a lot more errata, too:

I'd like to thank Essex for his hard work compiling errata and corrections. His comments and notations make my job a lot easier.
Thanks

This all seems like a waste of time though. What with 4e coming by soon and all.

Yeah it was how it always worked... basically D&D has this weird conception of what constitutes "energy" and what doesn't. For whatever reason, cold, fire, acid, lightning and sonic are the only energy types. It's weird D&D logic.
Re: PHB 2 Errata is up! (???????)
With sonic often being the neglected or bastard child of the energy types. A pity really because every so often I get into a Dune mood and want to throw the weirding ways into a full combat.
Re: PHB 2 Errata is up! (???????)
Well, Sonic makes as little sense as an *energy* type as Acid does. I mean, it's a blue hedgehog, that's matter, not energy.

This is false. The Energy Resistance spells only allow you to choose those five, the Energy Immunity spells only allow you to choose those five, but there has never been a rule that those were the only energy types.
Indeed, anything which isn't one of the three standard physical damage types is Energy by default. Divine Energy, Positive Energy, Light Energy, Earth Energy, whatever. And while resistance to those obscure energy types is hard to find, the Rules Compendium says that they are now illegal, which is pretty harsh.
When you cast a spell that does "Earth Damage", you're normally sitting pretty. Almost nothing has resistance to Earth. But the new rules say that nothing can have resistance to Earth, which is a whole different thing. Seriously, at that point why even bother having Positive Energy damage? You could just have Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, Sonic, and Ultima. That would save everyone a fuck load of time and mean exactly the same thing.

Force damage actually has its own little category too on the following page.

Didn't Complete Arcane introduce Wood as a magic damage type related to the Wujen?

Spell Compendium Errata is up. Shadow Spray now has a duration of instantaneous, and Nerveskitter now works.
