Not sure if he wants to get involved with such powerful and unpredictable magic, Olaf shouts congratulations down the hall and goes back to Searching the Northern hallway. He no longer bothers with stealth, assuming the noise involved in the monster's defeat must have been noticeable in adjacent rooms. Unless he finds something suspicious, he advances to the next room.

[It's not a charge, so no.]
The dog practically impales itself against the spear, yelping in pain as the weapon wedges in its chest, but the momentum carries it into Cadwyn and knocks him prone. Blood-flecked spittle dripping from his fangs, the dog clamps its jaws around it's master's head and tries to bite Cadwyn's face off. [Cadwyn takes 4 points of damage]

Cadwyn gets to his feet, and wipes off the dagger, his expression at once grim and resigned. Seeing the others staring, he says, "Do not run to learn your fate. The price is high, and the truth cannot be turned aside."
He extracts his spear from the carcass, and begins sorting through the saddlebags.

The metal man steps towards Archibald, "What's the game?"
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.
"Game? Fortune plays no games, tin man." Cadwyn says, "And you mock her at your peril. But go, if you dare. Behind the wall. Draw your cards, and see if your fate is as black as mine."

"Er... perhaps this is the point where I should remind you I'm not from around here and have no clue what a lot of this is..." Aracanis rolls his eyes and sighs, a surprising expression of frustration to come from a being with no lungs and glowing slits instead of ocular orbs, and walks over to the levers, "It was the right one, right?"

"Do you know what a blaster pistol is? Antigrav lifters? Thermal Visioning lenses? If any of these are alien to you, imagine what is common to you that may be alien to me. That ooze, for instance!" Aracanis puts a hand on the right lever, "I'll be back." He pulls it.

Olaf continues North until he notices something interesting.Ancient History wrote:Just a recap of where everyone is at: Kai is at the entrance to the north, Olaf is somewhere in the north corridor, Aracanis is by the south wall wit the levers, Cadwyn and Archibald are a little farther off, and everyone else is in or near the entrance eastern corridor.
EDIT: his lantern is lit.

The only thing interesting so far are the carvings on the walls [I'm assuming you're still proceeding slowly, checking for traps, let me know if you just want to saunter into the darkness with a manly devil-may-care swagger], which are growing progressively more hurried and darker of theme. There seems to be a preponderance of skulls and dying people of different races being pulled apart by formless claws from the shadows, bodies rent and broken by terrible and cruel mechanical traps, creatures crawling, dying from hunger and thirst... and the hallways goes on.
Cadwyn finishes sorting through the saddlebags. He hoists one over his left shoulder, and gestures to the other "There's a coil of rope in there, if anyone feels up to carrying it. And some dried meat and roasted grain for the dog. Now. You said something about a magic axe?" he asks Archibald. He doesn't seem concerned about Aracanis's fate.

Yes, for the time being.Ancient History wrote:[I'm assuming you're still proceeding slowly, checking for traps]
Olaf continues, occasionally knocking on walls when the carvings get dense enough to easily conceal the cracks of a secret door.Ancient History wrote:There seems to be a preponderance of skulls and dying people of different races being pulled apart by formless claws from the shadows, bodies rent and broken by terrible and cruel mechanical traps, creatures crawling, dying from hunger and thirst... and the hallways goes on.

Kothre pushes herself up from the face down position angrily yelling "-and another thing, you god-blighted, bigoted shit! I-" Suddenly she stops yelling and looks around, her long reddish hair whipping around with her head, "ah fuck, and now I'm in Hell." She pushes herself the rest of the way to her thick booted feet, flexing her hand, the spiked gauntlet softly clinking. "Ok... so, what, are the torturers out for coffee and a smoke?"

Surprised at the lightning blast that stole her kill detonated the ooze for her, Dreiden remains "on fire" and heads on to catch up with the others - not expecting to hear about levers and rotating platforms and cards.
"Wait... what?"
"Wait... what?"

What? Eh? Who the devil are you? Oh, it's no matter. We're all going to die, anyways. I came out of that room a different person than therm who went in- it wasn't pleasant. Let's get out of this place.
Archibald follows Olaf, looking for something interesting. Is there anything that looks like writing?
