Ok, I need to know. How many of us, what percentage, have Shadzar on ignore. I want to know. Cause if it's greater than 50% can we just.....all agree to never respond again.
I know it's not our way, I really like the low-to-no moderation of this forum I think it makes it a haven for honesty and direct communication but seriously....can we ban this dude? It just makes every thread so fucking hard to read when he starts shadding all over them. I mean it's not like I disagree with him and don't like what he says so I want him gone, it's that I can't understand a THING he has ever said and his posts look like someone tried to run diarrhea through Babelfish. I went 4 months without it and now that I know what it feels like I can't go back people. Help me fbmf, you're my only hope....

I have him on ignore. I'm pretty sure he's a troll, but he hasn't come out to say as much. At least I assume he hasn't because I do have him on ignore. I would really love it if we just all ignored him, he'd eventually get bored and leave.
Oh thank God, finally a thread about how Fighters in D&D suck. This was a long time coming. - Schwarzkopf
I don't because there is no reason too. He hasn't said anything out of line from what I've seen.

Just a heads up... Your post is pregnant... When you miss that many periods it's just a given.

I looked up Shadzar because of this thread, and now my mind is filled with fuck. I won't use the ignore function but I dont feel like responding to what he says.

I have Shadzar on ignore because he badmouthed Pearl once, I think. This is intolerable.name_here wrote:I have him on ignore.

I'm torn between my belief in the value of free speech no matter the content and my experience that no one who prefers 2nd edition ever has anything worthwhile to say on any topic.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

I find Shadzar frequently annoying, and rarely insightful. He raises decent point sometimes, but I can count on no hands the number of times I've seen him actually rebut anything (as opposed to yelling louder). He also occasionally gives good advice on running games.
If this were a democracy, I would still vote against banning.

Alternatively, if you thrust sideways, you will briefly be a fireball screaming across the sky at mach 14 before you melt from atmospheric friction.

I don't have him on ignore, because I have a rule that each post should be judged by its content alone, not its author. I've often been surprised when a poster I had written off as having nothing meaningful to say made an insightful or well-reasoned comment or argument.
That being said, shadzar has a thoroughly consistent record of:
1. Arguing his position with complete disregard to the statements of others,
2. Arguing the same position regardless of issue, and
3. Being thoroughly incoherent while doing it.
I suspect the last may be medical in nature, as his posts exhibit many of the indicators of dyslexia. His posts usually rank relatively low on my radar because most of them could be reproduced to a high degree of fidelity by a script which states the following three points in every post (and swaps or deletes random letters from each word to get the full effect:
1. AD&D 2E was the best edition ever and any criticism of it is invalid because wharrgarbl,
2. the global source of all substandard behavior is due to people not playing "correctly" due to an over-reliance on rules instead of adhering to the "spirit of the game", and
3. Any system design problem is not really a problem because wharrgarbl.
These arguments are invalid on first principles because they contain logical fallacies as their core (and the composite construct is argumentum ad nauseum at this point). As a result, it is generally improbable that his posts will be meaningful (although they can occasionally be entertaining).

Shadzar is the person on my ignore list that I am most successful at ignoring and not responding to. Actually, right now, he may be the only one.
Shadzar isn't really capable of discussion. It's not that he starts with stupid, incoherent, and basically random arguments that may or may not be related to the topic (he does), but that when you try to respond to him he shows absolutely no signs of having actually read or understood your post; he just moves on to the next stupid, incoherent, and basically random argument that may or may not be related to your response.
Talking to shadzar is like pushing 'next' on a shuffled list of stupid things. It's completely pointless. You can't actually talk to him. You can just get him to say more things. There's an important difference.
That said, I don't support banning him. I certainly wish more people would put him on ignore and adopt a policy of ignoring him, because responding to shadzar just hurts discussion.

We're at exactly a 50% mark at the moment. I think that's interesting. But I agree that simply adhering to a plan to literally never respond to or quote his posts is probably the best idea. I will do this personally and, if they are decent people who have had loving families, others will do the same.

Shadzar's a troll.
Read him for the lulz if you want, just don't respond to him.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Ayep. I have a bunch of people who I have on ignore to cut down the chaff, but I still view message every now and then since their opinions aren't universally invalid. I don't do that very often for Shadberries anymore.Starmaker wrote:I have, because I never read his posts anyway and scrolling through walls of text is inconvenient (if there's one shadzar post, there's a dozen).

Wait, is Shadzar back? Last time I checked he hadn't posted in months. I figured he got sick of people calling him out on his bullshit and left for pastures greener.
Edit: So he is. This is what happens when I don't come back here for a few days. I miss the return of Shadzar. For the record, yes, I have him on block.

Don't bother trying to impress gamers. They're too busy trying to impress you to care.
