Ten warning signs of a potentially unsafe group/leader.
- Absolute authoritarianism without meaningful accountability. (aka: nebulous builds, evasive answers, whatever data is actually provided, it's immediately shown to be not as good as claimed)
- No tolerance for questions or critical inquiry. (LOL, see above)
- No meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget, expenses such as an independently audited financial statement. (this one probably doesn't apply. whatever)
- Unreasonable fear about the outside world, such as impending catastrophe, evil conspiracies and persecutions. (everybody ELSE is basketweavers)
- There is no legitimate reason to leave, former followers are always wrong in leaving, negative or even evil. (no idea here, you may know better already)
- Former members often relate the same stories of abuse and reflect a similar pattern of grievances. (same as above)
- There are records, books, news articles, or television programs that document the abuses of the group/leader. (well, threads in the clowns case. Everybody else sees him for what he is)
- Followers feel they can never be "good enough". (the clown doesn't miss a chance to say your builds are rather weak, etc)
- The group/leader is always right. (I don't remember the clown ever apologizing, even when caught in clear mistakes like the Shadow/shadow confusion)
- The group/leader is the exclusive means of knowing "truth" or receiving validation, no other process of discovery is really acceptable or credible. (everybody else is wrong, 95% of D&D players are weak, etc.)
I'd bring my own drinks to their games.
