Libris Mortis: A Look back. (3E)

It's been a while since I looked at the template, but you only get the d12 hd for the hitdice you acutally convert, and for new lvls you refer back to class hp. But does stuff like corpse crafter / desecrate work for the ritual? So you aren't 100% boned hp wise?fectin wrote:I just now figured out the Necropolitan thing: you can do it at 2nd level, if you have an LA. There is a reason for the crazy wording.

Yeah, desecrate applies to any undead created within the area. Corpsecrafter and it's chain are specific to undead created via Necromancy spells, so they won't apply to Necropolitans.Koumei wrote:Pretty sure Corpsecrafter feats explicitly affect Undead created by specific spells. Desecrate + Evil Deific Altar should give you +2 HP/level though. It works for Liches, right?
ishy: as written, it's "increase to d12". Most undead templates say "increase all current and future Hit Dice to d12".
IMHO, the most natural meaning is the same as every other undead. There's plenty of room for disagreement there though.
It also looks like the long form would have made te art not fit. I'm not sure how much to read into that though.

Six items running at full blast through a well-engineered engine will put you, and something like 50 tons of cargo, into space. Alternatively, if you thrust sideways, you will briefly be a fireball screaming across the sky at mach 14 before you melt from atmospheric friction.

This seems as good a place as any to put this.
In Libris Mortis, p.34, the fourth paragraph under "Entering an Undead Class" reads as follows:

This appears to break the mold of standard monster classes, which require you to take all of the borken levels before you can multiclass out. This way you can get a 1-level dip for undead abilities... though I'm not sure how worthwhile that is anyways. If the character has no class levels, he simply gains one level of the appropriate undead class and may multiclass freely between that undead class and normal class levels.

Not really. Most of the really good abilities you want are capstoned and there aren't any good Undead PrCs....You Lost Me wrote:This seems as good a place as any to put this.

Lord of the dead is OK, but lives on the WotC website. Maybe you could enter soul eater but eh. Maybe 2 levels of mummy for a fighter type, but it doesn't seem worth it. Which is a shame, because a mummy sorcerer PC can be described as "cool as fuck."K wrote:Not really. You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.

Huh. Thanks. Given that it was written by Ms. Book of Erotic Fantasy, I'm surprised it doesn't require Lichloved.

I could see someone taking a level of Vampire Spawn, becoming a caster, and then getting Lifedrinker much later down the road, but it's hard to care when it's burning two caster levels in exchange for basically Empowering all your spells late in your career and horrible play-breaking weaknesses your whole career.
I could also see taking two levels of ghoul and then making a Multi-attack fighting guy, but it seems a waste when various shapechanging schemes are so easy.

Yech. I hope Andy Collins knows that a woman having an interest in lesbian sex is a pretty strong sign that any relationship you;d enter with her will end poorly until she sorts herself out...FrankTrollman wrote:Yes.
