Unless SR applies, Archie is down for the count.

No SR, it's just sonic (and poisonous gas spore spores). Roll up a new character and you can rendezvous in Room 00.

If you want a ridiculous template that makes your next PC basically unkillable, I could probably recommend one or two.

Are we starting at level 1, or ECL 1? If it's the latter, what kinds of templates are permissible?

Level 1, but you can have templates.

Apparently, any template is viable if you can make the case for it being less awesome than Worm That Walks (Joke Book Version, not Pathfinder Version)

At this point in the game, I'm willing to bend on races with an ECL above 0 and templates, within reason. Level 1 is still a requirement however. Make a character you can have fun with.

There's been some mention of spores, has anyone got Cure Disease or Slow Poison?

This is a respectable boost to survivability for +1 CR. Take a race with a CON penalty and CHA bonus. You don't have any cool powers, but 'Xochitl could give you a bunch of undead healing potions when you spawn.

Like Dread Mummy, this is a character-defining template, probably more noticeable than your class. It has respectable resistances, self-healing, and a vampire's signature escape from death when you would normally have been destroyed.

You can use Dominate and Telekinesis at will as if you were level 12, giving you powerful options in combat and a reason to hang onto 12 different magic weapons. You also have high mobility. With Xil's Charnel Touch, you come right back to "life" as soon as the party finds you after winning or retreating from the fight.

I can cure your disease by infecting you with a different disease that turns you into an undead abomination?

Sorry.

If people are running around at less than full hp, feel free to ask Cadwyn for some Evil healing, powered by the Cube. Side effects may include explosions and decolorization. I don't usually check other people's character sheets, so I don't always know when someone needs an Infernal Healing, or how badly injured they might be.

No, I meant you had a moment where the fall of the spiders was announced, so I wasn't going to spare any more tears on it. Neutral Evil, ya know. My character, that is.

Lol, alright then.

Need to get a new character idea now... hrm...

Damnit! The St. Iratus Paladin would not go over well here at all.

Paladins are great! You can make emotional appeals to fiends that they should help you because you are currently hunting those nefarious do-gooders. If you are convincing enough about how much you hate them angels, the yugoloth merchants might cheat you significantly less. :)

EDIT: Didn't you want to play some kind of demon-pony?

St. Iratus:
Maxus wrote:Saint Iratus was a 8th-Century Paladin who gained divine recognition for his merciful defeat of the Kiron the Tyrant-King of Kroll. History tells us he had Dark King Kiron in a headlock, and was making passable progress towards unscrewing Kiron's head, while delivering a eloquent catolog of the Dark King's lifetime of sowing evil, hatred, and misery, and was screaming "REAP THE WHIRLWIND FUCKSTAIN!" when Sharptooth, his barbarian companion, persuaded him to relent and spare Kiron's life. Kiron later reformed, and joined a monastery which had a vow of silence and also a prohibition against nodding or moving the head.

For his great-hearted compassion and temperance, Iratus was visited by angels in his dreams, and went on a holy journey to Mount Celestia. There, he got permission to cut a golden oak from the high reaches, and fashioned the oak tree into a gorgeous, solid table.

Then he carried the table on his back, to the court of a Balor and chokeslammed the Balor through the table. The table shattered and riddled the Balor with holy splinters. The battle went precipitously downhill for the Balor from there.

Afterwards, Iratus gathered up the pieces, proclaiming he was going to "MAKE SOME FUCKING SHIVS OUT OF THIS TABLE, BECAUSE THAT BALOR CAUGHT ON WHITE FIRE WHEN HE HIT THE WOOD AND I WANT TO SEE THAT SHIT AGAIN!"

He made good on his word, whittling rough daggers and, one on occasion, a wooden sword, out of it, and legend tells that a whole table leg survived intact, and that this was wielded by Saint Iratus as a greatclub to terrific effect in later battles.

After his eventual death, the mourners found his workroom was covered in splinters of the Golden Table, left behind as he whittled out weapons, and they gathered up the holy oak and kept them safe. Soon, Iratus's students and disciples formally declared themselves the Order of Saint Iratus, and the splinters were given out as recognition of great deeds. They also dedicated themselves to Iratus' school of fighting, which ran as such:

1) PUT THAT ARMOR ON AND START RUNNING, YOU HANDFUCKERS. I SPREAD FLUFFY BUTTERY-SMOOTH GIRLY-MAN MUSCLE LIKE THAT ON MY TOAST FOR BREAKFAST!

2) WHO THE FUCK SPENDS THEIR TIME PRACTICING THE NINE-CRESCENT WATER MOON STRIKE OF FLUFFY BUNNY BULLSHIT? JUST BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THEM! IT WORKS FOR ME!

3) PRACTICE YOUR FUCKING MAGIC, DIMCOCK! THAT SHIT IS FUCKING AWESOME!

4) BE COOL TO THE POOR, THE SICK, THE ELDERLY, AND THE LADIES! UNLESS THEY'RE EVIL, THEN KILL SOME OF THEM SO HARD EVERYONE ELSE STRAIGHTENS THEIR SHIT UP!

As might be gathered, the Iratians pride themselves on their physical strength, and take direct approach to combat, augmented by choice spells and heavy armor; they often emulate Saint Iratus himself by focusing on grappling. They are also generous to the common man (and polite to the ladies), while being very vocal and demonstrative in their destruction of evil.
Oh yeah... well there we go.

Though I don't think AH ever gave the go ahead on the ponies, given they're fan made.

Look, if you want to play a horse, they're in the Monster Manual. You want to play a magic horse, the magebred template is in Eberron. We have enough shit here to make that stuff work without going into fanwank.

I know a guy who tried playing a Winter Wolf in a campaign once. It didn't end well. Hands are important, which is why the Crypts of Chaos designers were so careful to seek every opportunity to disarm you of them.

Wait for Berry's action, since she's the sane one. And it'll give time for the others to work on their new PCs.

Turning Olaf into a Dread Allip is a lot easier than I expected. The templates actually pretty simple, and you don't need to worry about gear.

Then again, I'd have to spend a while digging up a suitably horrific character portrait and write a bunch of prose about his monstrous appearance and insane babbling, so the real work hasn't even been touched.

Here's a thought. We want at least one of the new PCs to be able to use the frog staff. And someone who could identify stuff would be pretty great too. Maybe another of whatever Kothre was would be useful.

Also, Question: If somebody's soul/ghost gets yanked out of their body immediately after they die, are they incapable of turning into a spawn monster?
