Either they are specially protected from my zombifying poison by their powers, or the presence of a soul trap will disrupt the process by pulling out the soul before a dead body reanimates. - A bronze axe. "There was a surprisingly formidable fellow using this. It might be magically sharpened to make cutting off limbs easier. Or he was some kind of martial adept, maybe. In any case, it was the only thing he was carrying besides his clothes, "

- 1 set of curious leather armor (long coat, pants, &c.) "Figured it was probably magical if he had all that other fancy stuff."

- 1 black metal ring that looks familiar "Kind of interesting seeing it on the body. Didn't think he was the type, ya know."

- 2 pistols - one silver and one cold iron, each inscribed with Celestial verses that make 'Xochitl's eyesockets itch + 1 belt of bullets (13, each silver-tipped and inscribed with a separate Celestial heiroglyph) "I'm gonna have to figure out some way of disposing of these. I hear some priests and evil churches will pay big for the chance to defile angel-treasure"

- 1 large, heavily inscribed gold coin "If he was only carrying one coin, it was probably something special"

- 1 wide-brimmed leather hat "The hat was the only thing I found when they tried to decoy me while they escaped. And he was wearing another when I caught up. Something funny about that."

Back in the Maze
Sanity returns to Kai and Cadwyn about as Madoc arrives. {Kai is at 13 hp and the healing has worn off.} Kai feels cold, having left his coat back with Archie's corpse.

'Xochitl pulls a largish, triangular dagger with a plain hilt and crossguard from an inner pocket of her new armor. The blade is of a peculiar material that; it almost looks like black marble with the clear, creamy consistency of jade, almost invisible at the edges, but there are veins and flecks of several metals in there as well, some in strange whorls that seem almost unnatural.

"Definitely a Weaponer commission of some kind, but there are people who want it. It must be more than a simple disintegration rod in knife form."

"I think we should get back," Berry says, as she checks the drow's corpse for any loot. "I'm guessing with this paladin dead, we'll probably be seeing Xil before too long..." She frowns. "And of course, losing Archie and Jes means the Mad God will bring some more poor fools here. We'll need all the help we can get."

{I'm tempted to suggest that you take the body, even though Xil didn't manage to nab the soul. The drow had valuable information I was hoping to extract, and if we can find a way of turning her into an intelligent undead, she could explain what she was doing at all the mysterious altars and pools.

Bit of a shame, I thought she was retreating into known territory but it looks like it was actually a blind dash into the Doom Maze. Kind of an anticlimax.}

Lootin' the Drow
The drow has on her the golden sword with the spider engraved on the hilt, a suit of light elven chain mail, some nifty boots and cloak also of elven make.
