All good questions. We're almost a year in and we still don't know. ;)

Hey AncientHistory, this might be inappropriate, but would you be interested in sharing your campaign notes? I'd be really pumped to run it for a group of friends this summer.

It's not inappropriate but no, I'm not sharing campaign notes. Feel free to steal anything you want from what the PCs have gone through, though. (Except damn, you haven't seen the shit they get up to in PMs...)

I've been posting PMs as I run low on Savebox memory, and I'll probably leave the rest in the OOC thread when the game's over.

Yeah, I might need to turn mine into a text file pretty soon. Almost out of space after what happened in the maze.

No worries. After reading the play by post I just regret not jumping at the chance to play. Kudos!

I've got a reason for it. We'll do an open-question session when this is all done and we can talk about it. And I might do something like this again one of these days...

Just waiting on Red Rob to post.

I'm starting to have the beginnings of a plan. Since this is [The FINAL BATTLE], it doesn't involve just ditching the situation. Xil is gonna pick up her minions from outside the pyramid, then hit crowds of mooks with Breath of Death to generate zombies we can maybe screen the area with.

I was wondering what the blues look like. Are they reptilian or goblinoid or do they resemble blue halflings?

Also, this may be a stupid question, but are the mauve ones mind flayers?

The dual wielding T-Rex is pretty boss.

I never made a point of describing the Blues in terms of normal monsters, but yeah they're basically these guys.

And yes, the Mauve Ones are illithids...with transparent skin so you can see the purplish muscles moving beneath...and a penchant for bondage gear...and self-flagellation. Flavor text, everybody! There's nothing quite like the first reactions of a group of players to seeing a mind flayer in a gimp suit emerge from a box.

Hmm, I always thought they were just off-model hobgoblins. The More You Know!

Yeah, I figured the blues were, well, blues.

We're on the last legs of the adventure and still in the middle of a battle royale, which is why I haven't been handing out XP - while I can appreciate the desire to level up, I think we should hold off on that to see who survives the final encounter(s).

Ah well. I suppose I can always try distorting time and space through Iron Heart Surge-based mummy shenanigans in another campaign. Someday, man.

I was briefly tempted to try for an epilogue that basically amounted to "Dude, my status of 'Not being in the Crypts of Chaos genociding Bluetown' is a condition that feels really harmful, ya know? I'll catch up with the rest of you on the Astral Plane laterz. Iron Heart Surge!" But after some thought, it would probably be best if I refrained.

Well, it wouldn't have worked anyway 'cause you can't reach the Astral Plane at the moment. Give it few rounds, though...

"What, we aren't in the Astral Plane right now? That's so sad. My world is dark and full of tears. We need to get rid of the sun, to suit the mood. Iron Heart Surge!"

Is there anyone (or any thing) near Cadwyn right now, or does he have a clear path back to what remains of the pyramid?

North of the pyramid is pretty clear at the moment.

Can someone explain the Iron Heart Surge cheese that's being referenced?

Well, Iron Heart Surge is notoriously badly worded, allowing you to ignore "an effect" for a while. Given "effect" isn't a defined game term, people have variously wondered whether you could ignore death, gravity, time and sundry other forces. As there is no actual in game list of what it works on, it's power level is entirely dependent on how accomodating your DM is.

Okay, that's what I thought. That's an amazingly vague and open-ended description. I just found a similar one recently (italics mine):
SRD wrote:Explorer’s Outfit
This is a full set of clothes for someone who never knows what to expect. It includes sturdy boots, leather breeches or a skirt, a belt, a shirt (perhaps with a vest or jacket), gloves, and a cloak. Rather than a leather skirt, a leather overtunic may be worn over a cloth skirt. The clothes have plenty of pockets (especially the cloak). The outfit also includes any extra items you might need, such as a scarf or a wide-brimmed hat.
So, I need a +10 longsword, a Ring of Infinite Wishes...
