{If he thinks they are, maybe he should be the one that activates the instant fortress. That would leave Cadwyn free to hurl more spikes.}

(If the adamantine cube is within reach:)

Manticore-Cadwyn reaches out a paw for the cube, pushing it in between himself and the oncoming worm. He says "Aquavit" somewhat uncertainly. Then, if there's time, he'll launch a volley of spikes at any convenient target.

(If the cube is out of reach:)

Cadwyn shifts again, taking on a smaller form that seems humanoid at first glace. But his elongated limbs end in sets of tentacles, instead of fingers, and one set grips the Godblade tightly. Choker-Cadwyn scrambles up and back, taking to the ceiling of the tunnel and reaching far to grasp this new cube. Stretching his arm back to put the cube between Ng'Thagai and the worm, he says "Aquavit" somewhat uncertainly.

(Possibly turning into a Choker. Even without the extra standard action, it's pretty sweet.)

The Final Battle, Part 4
'Xochitl swallows a handful of blood sweets, feeling them dissolve into sticky ooze and releasing their pent-up negative energy. (+24 hp) Then screams as a blast of fire takes her from the side. She glances over to see the undead orc, still holding its head, steam rising from the eye sockets.

In response to Tek's summons, four erinyes appear - this time around rather than in the column of water; two comely men and two handsome women, dark of skin and with subtle devilish features, each carrying a greasy black rope wrapped around their bodies. At Tek's silent command, they move as one, the black rope uncoiling and slinking out to bind the undead orc, and the stunned ape-thing, illithid, and dwarf.

Ng'Thagai continues singing, and the nearby ninjas stop their assault on Cadwyn's ass, falling into a waking dream. The pink tentacled horror squeezing itself in behind them grabs the ninjas and shoves them into its lamprey-like gullet.

Cadwyn's shape shifts away from that of a manticore, limbs lengthening as he becomes a choker, snagging the tiny adamantine cube and bringing it to himself. At his command, the cube once more expands like a thin grey soap bubble, the black stone of the pyramid shifting to accomodate the sudden appearance of the tower as if it had been built around it. The last thing Cadwyn sees before the tower attains opacity is the pink worm-thing still coming on.

(Everyone that was stunned is no longer stunned at the beginning of the next round.)

Berry kicks off from the ceiling, releasing the levitation as she does so, making a Spring Attack against the orc or monkey, whoever is closest.

Xil quietly regrets that her breath has not recharged, then moves in to kill the monkey before it can do something else with its magical water pillar.

"The illithid might be able to slip out of the ropes, be careful. As for the rest of you, it's time that you start thinking about whether it's in your interest to switch sides. Even if we start losing, we can just let in the big worm to finish you."

If Xilraxochitl sees Cadwyn rushing over, she tries not to hit him as she swings at the monkey currently holding it. "So, after I kill this clown do you think we should break his whatchamacallit? Or would that destroy this world too?"

Tek's beak parts in avian glee, as he moves in to tap the bound illithid, speaking in Undercommon, <"May all your efforts crumble around you. Asshole."> (Bestow Curse, -4 on all rolls.)

As she hears the manifestation of another summon, 'Xochitl chortles, but stays focused on stabbing the monkey.

The Final Battle, Part 5
The headless blue-furred monkey thing raises its face-hand, spitting out broken teeth and sees death coming at it from two directions. It mouths a word, and the Chaos Cube flashes; the stone of the pyramid suddenly takes on a softer texture - the mineral veins in the walls replaced by literal veins, the whole black pyramid converted in an instant to living flesh - and it shudders and moans. Then Berry and 'Xochitl strike, and by the time they are done there is scarce a piece of the creature more than two inches long. The erinyes that had been holding the ape-thing moves to assist her sister with the dwarf.

Tek moves in to touch the bound Mauve One (successful) - but is unprepared when the creature suddenly lunges forward, a tentacle attaching to the side of Tek's head (-5 hp). The erinyes holding the Mauve One issues a curse, and the rope slides up to form a noose around its neck, but the Mauve One does not let go.

The dwarf, for his part, still struggles as the erinyes torture him, practicing arcane bondage techniques and slowly peeling him out of his armor.

Meanwhile, the undead orc - his body captured by an erinyes, but his decapitated head lying on its side - confronts on the wolf summoned by Ng'Thagai. There is a brief flash and the smell of burnging dog fur, and the wolf collapses, the undead orc's eyes smoking. It's jaws work as best as it is able and it croaks out a word: "Parlay?"

Cadwyn scuttles over and grabs the Matrix - it is surprisingly light, at least in terms of physical weight, but simply holding it he feels a sudden pain in his chest. One of Elder Thingol's tentacles gently touches Cadwyn_choker's shoulder, then moves over his face, feeling his features.

*I do not know you The scarred, broken being's thoughts sound distant and far away. *But I ask that you give me the Matrix. You have battled well, but our darkest night is upon us, and the Matrix is our only hope.

Trk struggles against the mauve one's tentacle, trying to get free, and leveling the staff at it's torso, "Damnit!" he caws, trying to fry it at point blank. (if I can maneuver to get the orc's head in the line too, I'll do that.

{If it gets too many tentacles on you, remember you just dissolve into a mass of centipedes before it grabs your brain.}

"Glad to see you've got some brains, orc. Stop fighting us, and we can work out some kind of deal once this is over."

'Xochitl turns to Thingol. "Berry says you're cool, so I won't keep you from using that thingy if you want to. But when this is all over, I got a proposition for ya."

If her breath of death has recharged, she tells the erinyes in Infernal that she's going to sap the strength of the dwarf and mauve one with a cone attack. Then she maneuvers to hit both the living enemies without harming the erinyes. Since Tek is undead, she lets the miasma wash around him without concern.

Otherwise, she lunges in to stab the Dwarf, flames washing over her weapon once again. [Move, Standard recharge attack, Swift maneuver for 1d6+2 extra fire damage. Using both hands on the rapier.]

"If you need me to help out, Tek, lemme know. But I seem to remember you had a contingency if getting grabbed was a problem."

Berry attaches the Rod of Repair and squats down on her heels, holding up the Ring of Shielding so it can be of use if something unexptected happens.

Ng'Thagai flies away from the giant worm at the entrance, calling on the elements as he does so. Once he has cast Produce Flame he hurls a bolt of fire at the Mauve One grappling Tek, whilst urging Maximilian to help Tek fight the thing off.

The Final Battle, Part 6
The Mauve One grappling Tek disappears in an explosion of lightning and flame - and tears a ragged, gaping hole in the side of the black meat pyramid beyond.

The erinyes' torturing the dwarf rebuke 'Xochitl, claiming that this one is theirs - unless she wants join in...

The column of water in the center of the room collapses, leaving an angry reddish puddle that seems to flicker and move of its own volition.

Cadwyn hands the Matrix to Thingol, the scarred tentacles slithering over it and raising it before those golden, clouded eyes.

*The Matrix of Leadership, forged by my brothers when first Primus brought us here to build this place, for it would lead us home. Yet never did any of us have the courage to use it, and so it was hidden away...my final secret...that which I did not give up for two thousand years, through all the tortures of the mind and body I have suffered...now, now I possess the final will. The Ultimate Nullifier. The Annulus. With this I will crack this prison, and we shall all be free.

*You here, be on your guard. The others will seek to stop me, they do not understand. Buy me the time I need, and even the Mad God will not be able to stop us...

The elder Mauve One raises it to the ceiling, the tips of its tentacles just grasping the handles on either side - and pulls. With a mechanical shunk the Matrix opens a little, and you can all see the glittering crystal core, shining like a new-born sun.

A shaft of light rises from the Matrix, straight through the ceiling of the black pyramid, the roof blown aside at the force of it. Higher and higher the light reaches into the night sky, until finally it seems to stop, like it had hit the crystal sphere against which the stars themselves are painted by the gods. There is a gentle tug at all of your minds as that arcing beam of power continues to increase in intensity, growing brighter and wider... One by one, the stars in the sky begin to blink out.

The undead orc's head blinks and croaks "Oh shit." Though whether this is in response to Thingol, or to the things that are now creeping in around the edges of the pyramid it is hard to say...

Through the hole burned in the eastern wall, shadows flit about, with bows and short swords drawn.

To the south, pink tentacles begin to worm through the meat around the western edge of the adamantine tower.

Up above, where the roof has been blown away, you can see a trio of gyrocopters dogfight with a flying Mauve One.

From somewhere to the some comes an earth-shaking roar torn from five throats...and to the west, as if in answer to it, a deep reptilian bellow...

Berry stands up, leaving the Rod on as long as she can, and hefts her Might Dagger resolutely. "We are well and truly screwed. Good way to go out, I suppose... but I'll always be curious about that dragon."

When the erinyes tell Xil to shove off, she shrugs and turns around. "Okay."

She bolts through the hole in the side of the pyramid, and if something gets in her way she blasts it with summoned wasps.

Ng'Thagai thinks back to a few hours ago, when his most pressing concern was finding a warm place to sleep for the night, then surveys the maelstrom going on around him. He hugs Maximilian as the hound whines.

"There, there Max. All will be over soon, I think, one way or another, yes."

He then begins to sing a sad lullaby, his voice rising to compete with the noise (Sleep song).
