"Once I heard the temple's bells,
An' raided shrines for their lore,
An' on and on I wanted more,
Greedy, greedy Jack o'Spells.

"Damned by the gods in heavens and hells,
I walked the earth unceasing,
I first level, never increasing,
Cursed, cursed Jack o'Spells.

"A dark secret no-one tells,
Apprentice in a thousand classes,
Slowly slowy my power masses,
Clever, clever Jack o'Spells.

"The divine spark within me dwells,
Ascended to the divine realm,
Scared the bastards at the helm,
God of Chaos, Jack o'Spells.

"My trickery mere legend excels,
Gelded the god of fertility,
Imprisoned for eternity,
Become the Mad God, Jack o'Spells.

"So to myself expel,
Saviors, warriors, heroes all,
Brought you here at my call
Thanks a lot, says Jack o'Spells.

"The prison now Thingol dispels,
Your part is done,
Your races run,
Now stand aside, for Jack o'Spells."
[Engaging XilraxoVision]
"Yo, ho! I the Mad God. I like big spellbooks, and I cannot lie.
Them utha gods couldn't step to this, so they cut off my XPs, yo.
But call me Vorpal Kickasso, cause that don't stop me.
I just fractionally multiclassed like a bajillion times, and Mista Cavern was like, 'whatevah, you a hot shit prayer-munchah now'.
Dem immortals was like, 'that's sick, dawg' Then they threw me in da slammah when I shanked a foo.
You cool, mortals, cause you and Squiddy Billy here bustin' me out."
[Disengaged]

We need to let the Mad God back into the multiverse. She's the god of exploitative multiclassing and munchkiny murder-hoboing. Her holy symbol is probably a burning basket.

In addition, the Mad God's story is a harrowing tragedy, the story of the ever-more desperate scramble for asymmetric power to take the place of level-ups callously denied to her by the powers that be. Truly, a narrative to pluck at 'Xochitl's nonexistent heartstrings.

Now Xil's character epilogue can be the beginning of her quest to become a rival figure, the god of 1337FRAGZ_D&D420EDITION_360N0SC0P3Z_[MLG]. I have to replace her theme song with some Skrillex, pronto. And maybe switch to a crunker internet browser.

Yeah, at this point I feel like we're a prologue to someone else's awesome story. :)

I also have Telekinesis and the knowledge that at least two weapons held by the party are capable of killing the mad god.
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

I was kind of hoping that you would do a fastball special on Berry instead of what just happened. Oh well. ;)

...who might be able to actually heal Berry, instead of the zombie-rez thing. But who doesn't want to be a mechano-undead abomination against all that is good and pure in the world?

The "world" in this case is less than fifty feet in diameter and shrinking fast, and the purest thing in it is a half-red-dragon/half-centaur what grew up rooting about in the innards of dead monsters and gnoshing on their heads.

Well, guys, I'm off to an exciting weekend of the HP Lovecraft Film Fest and Cthulhucon... gotta hit the VIP reception first. AH, I'll be on the lookout for T&A for you. Research.

Anyway, I'll be checking email on and off, but there are going to be a lot of movies, so if you don't hear from me for a bit, be patient. Don't end the world without me.

Since we're post game, I have to say I was only waiting to see if anyone would stab the Mad God in the empty chest-box with one of the hideously powerful magical weapons that round. Which would have precipitated a slightly different ending.

I'd kind of meant to, and should have gone for it. Post game alternate ending share?

You would have killed the Mad God, and inherited a touch of her divinity, making your a quasi-deity. And then your character would be the end boss in the new prison demiplane.

Those were the two basic "endings" of the Crypts of Chaos. In one, Thingol unmakes the prison - if it never was, then nobody was ever there. (Of course, that just means Primus made a different prison). In the other, if you kill the Mad God (much easier when she's chained up and helpless), you inherit her divine mantle and the portal opens...to everyone except the new godling, who remains trapped in the Crypts forever. There are also some other possibilities, but those were the two big ones I planned for.

Awesome finish. Thanks to everyone for playing, and major thanks (and props!) to Ancient History for running this thing! What a great adventure.

Also, Cadwyn's unused ability (which might have been enough to break the cycle, should she have become the Mad God):
The Tyrant: "...and the multiverse will bow at your feet."
(Cadwyn gains the one-time ability to issue a single command to any creature in the multiverse and have the order obeyed. The target is affected as if by the spell dominate monster, and even orders for the target to kill itself are followed. Any creature targeted by this effect knows that it is acting against its will, and knows the identity and location of the character.)
But I'm glad he didn't. This is really the outcome he was hoping for.

On a side note, here's a comparison of Cadwyn as he was when he first entered the Crypts, compared to how she was at the very end. He may not have died, but she was basically a new character by that point:

Original Cadwyn:
Young Male Human Sorcerer (Enlarge Person, Silent Image)
All stats 14s
All limbs intact
Speaks Common, Sylvan, Welsh
Animal companion: hunting dog

Ending Cadwyn:
Old Female Fiendish Half-Orc Stalwart Sorcerer (Infernal Healing, Magic Missile, Wings of Cover)
Stats 13/9/11/12/14/13 (and had lots of stat damage along the way)
Right hand missing, replaced with crazy metal hand
Speaks Abyssal, Infernal, Welsh (added Common when leveling up)
Animal "companion": baby half-red-dragon centaur
Cursed
Fiendish template applies at all times
(which is relevant because she can transform at will)
Was temporarily insane, twice.
Was temporarily 1/12 normal size, twice.

Thanks for an engaging and thought-provoking game. Now I'll have some pretty cool ideas to try next time I'm RPing evil cultists. I'm thinking about doing a Dom3-based collective game at some point, and Bogarus, Yomi, C'tis, and others will all be much more interesting because of the lessons I learned here.

Thanks for staying Avor. I can definitely say your characters added a lot to the game, even when they did damn fool things.
