None of the pundits seem like they'd be against someone trying to start a manufacturing base at home. It wouldn't be a great answer, but it would be fairly noncontroversial and have a good chance of getting the party dividends and publicity that would make it easier to push more ambitious ideas.

Getting foreign currency depends upon us selling raw materials from the forests of Korbahl. There is no other way. There has never been another way. The prices we can get for raw materials has fallen, therefore we must work longer hours and venture farther afield to harvest more of them in order to keep currency inflows stable. Work more and open up more of the forests for harvesting. That is all we must do. That is all we can do.
This guy probably would be. But yeah, that was my idea as well. Start teaching Korbahlans* to manufacture goods from their materials.

Tentatively, I'm up for it.

I'm thinking about a dwarf Mechanus Warrior (one of your classes, Frank, found here) from Thorigram, probably working the skills: Craft, forgery, appraise, search, spot, among others. Tentatively, the character is used to dealing with financial matters: assaying, document checking, some crafting (if the party gets the downtime). If the class/idea doesn't seem workable, let me know and I'll figure out something else.

My stat array for the group pile:

10 14 12 13 15 16

Edit: Can we take the scaling skill feats? I think Iaimeki did most of them. I do know there's quite a few here., including your Leadership feats (no, I'm not asking for Leadership feats).

Double-edit: in case anyone doubts the array.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

EDIT: Currently waffling between a Druid and a Soulborn/Fighter. Does this game allow retraining?

I'm thinking human Thaumaturge PrCing into Pumpkin King, or failing that Trollman/Sulin Sorcerer. Both base classes here.

Due to the fact necromancers are awesome, I'm thinking a disenchanted recent graduate from Nodral who decided to move to Central Derpistan for a shot at the greener grass. Irritatingly this means I can't have the free results from one of the countries.

I would be interested in this. I would play Dwarf or Human and a Cleric or Archivist.

I ran some stats and came up with 18, 15, 13, 12, 12, 8. So if I play I'll be the guy who supplies the 18 but otherwise a very bland statline.

And I also think that Sweland or Thorigram are the optimal starting places for a party

Rollings just to show I'm serious:

17 15 15 12 16 16 16 11

I think I need new dice, that's a horrendously suspiciously good array.

I was laughing about The Korbahl. See: Cyberpunk Eurostyle and The Ukraine.

There totally needs to be a right-wing drow woman in Lolthwyr saying the problem is that men have been put into the workforce, reducing the number of jobs. Traditionally, it has been the man's job to take care of the house, raising the kids and feeding the spiders while the women bring the gold in!

I'm just looking at the "our way of life" thing. In my experience, when someone says a failing system is their way of life, they're basically saying they'd rather die because of tradition than try something new. But it's not really a big deal, I'm just pointing out that one pundit will probably be resistant to it, but he's a pundit. "Yeah, yeah, shut the fuck up, Nuzrum" is kind of a valid option, not the best, but valid.

Damnit, that's tempting to play.

Anyway, stat array:
13 14 12 15 11 14 16 15

Meh, not bad. I'll probably go with Omegon's stat line though.

So the first people who said they wanted in on this (and the order of this announcement) were:

Korgan0
Whipstitch
Avoraciopoctules
Prak Anima
Grek
Flare 22

Maxus
Omegonthesane
deanruel87

That is more than six. I assume that not everyone who raised their hand will actually go through with it, so I'm willing to entertain alternates at this point.

16 15 9 11 14 14 15 14

Not a bad line at all, but straight up worse than Omegon's.

My vote is for the Korbahl.

You know what? Even though Omegon's statline would make for a bitchin' cleric I think I'm just going to tell option paralysis to fuck all the way off and go Beguiler instead. There is nothing worse than trying to feel out how far to take your cleric. Nothing.

Damn! Just over the wire.

Well, maybe someone will back out.

Edit: Also, just realized array roll is invalid. That's what I get for rushing and trying to stake a claim before I turn in for the night.

Ignore mine, I'll just have to handroll one when I can find a couple more d6's so I don't have to roll one die 32 times

Rolls are overall pretty terrible, but not as bad as flare22's:
1.) 4, 4, 4, 4: 12
2.) 1, 5, 6, 5: 16
3.) 1, 5, 4, 2: 11
4.) 4, 5, 6, 4: 15
5.) 1, 4, 6, 3: 13
6.) 6, 3, 4, 1: 13
7.) 1, 2, 2, 6: 10
8.) 4, 2, 1, 1: 7

Character Sheet:
http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.p ... tid=612620

Highlights:
Alexander Snapfuse is a Gnomish Assassin who was working for Badger & Foonwhist before it collapsed. He has a bald head and a long waxed mustache. He wears a blue business suit and carries a magic crossbow around in a suitcase. Behind him are three Business Ghouls, wearing black business suits, who sometimes eat people that are late on their payments.

Things that need approved:
-The Guide Shot spell from Complete Adventurer. It's a swift action "shoot a bow better" divination spell.

I think Korbahl or Sweland, with an initial business strategy of "Let's get some land start up a factory."

By alternates, do you mean people who are available to start when the game begins, in case some players don't follow through, or people who are available to join later, in case someone drops out? I'd be very interested in the latter, since my schedule gets considerably more manageable once we hit August.

I'd be interested in playing a Changeling with the first Changeling Rogue substitution level from Races of Eberron (trades out trapfinding for some social skill bonuses, and a few other perks), if that's something you'd allow. A spy/detective type. I'll make the character sheet now, since I've got a bit of time.

I'm down for being an alternate.

Also, rolled my array using real dice. Spoilered because I'm not sure if using it would be allowed, unless I actually got into the game.

Yeah, I think I've settled on the Korbahl as the easiest starting point. A druid with an ape animal companion should be fairly helpful. Attune Sphere: Bone and Body Assemblage will give us some more disposable mooks and free labor.

Hrm. Would you consider it toe stepping if I went Dread Necromancer then? I ask mostly because upon review I noticed that Prak's eyeballing a social warlock and Grek's got sneaking covered. But necromancy? I believe we can all agree that more skeletons has been scientifically proven to mean more skeletons.

We might have a lot if I get in. Or I might have to revise concept.

I'm sure that no matter what we end up doing and what the class list looks like, we can always find some use for even more skeletons.

I'm mostly irritated that we'll need L3 scrolls for our first real bucket of skeletons - Body Assemblage is realistically max 5 skeletons per investor, whereas scrolls are capped differently.

Okay, here's Jho. A Changeling Rogue/Beguiler, who's a professional spy, detective, forger, and general master of disguise.

Since this is an alternate character, I didn't want to tie things down too specifically; Jho can show up wherever the rest of the PCs are.

Would a Hat of Disguise with no scaling bonus count as a Minor Magic Item, or a Lesser? What about a Ring of Prestidigitation?

What languages are spoken across Derpistan?

Stats!
4, 3, 2, 2 = 9
6, 6, 3, 3 = 15
6, 4, 4, 1 = 14
5, 5, 1, 1 = 11
6, 5, 5, 5 = 16
6, 3, 2, 2 = 11
5, 4, 3, 3 = 12
6, 3, 3, 2 = 12
So 16, 15, 14, 12, 12, 9. Pretty nice!

Avoraciopoctules is taking Attune Sphere: Bone, which lets him cast Command Undead as a 1st level spell. This lets him control an extra number of undead equal to 4 times however many spell slots he's going to spend per day on undead controlling. Twice that if he has Extend Spell and wants to use a 2nd level slot.

I don't think we need to worry about commanding enough skeletons.

Yeah, I like necromantic themes but kinda dislike clerics in general and their "CAST ALL THE THINGS!!" class feature in particular--I prefer more structure than that, even if it has to come via self-nerfs. But for all their focus Dread Necros are actually sort of bad at having a bunch of skellies around early on due to their list and casting progression so actually having someone else blow feats and drag around skeletons I can heal is a super good deal for me given that a Dread Necro desperately wants to hoard feats for Tomb-tainted Soul and Arcane Disciple.*
