Working together Tuftwick and Yusuf move the blue-handled chain down another few links - and the blue door opens another few inches, letting in even more water than before.

Do you:

Pull on the lapis lazuli chain some more?
Pull on another chain?
Explore the pit under the jade chain?

Now can we pull on the red one?

Sure, I guess; but I'd use rope to pull it, since if I recall the red one is over a trap door.

As an aside, is the water's influx slowing down at all?

No, the water's influx has increased proportionately.

I meant over time. I would personally prefer that we wait a while to see if the blue door's reservoir is actually finite.

Using the rope, Tuftwick and Yusuf pull the red-handled chain down a few links. The floor panel beneath the handle falls away, revealing another pit into which the oncoming waters flow. The orange door to the north rumbles as it opens a few inches.

Do you:

Pull the red chain some more?
Pull the blue chain some more?
Pull another chain?
Look in one of the pits?
Peek into the opening of the red door?

Does the water flow into the orange door's opening?

I vote we look down each of the pits, starting with the red one. I also vote we wait a turn or two to see if the water's flux abates at all.

Most of the water is flowing into the pits at the moment; some is flowing under the opening of the orange door.

Somehow, I doubt the water is going to abate - regardless, I think we should keep pulling on that red chain. And I vote for someone not Yusuf to stare into the horribly deathly pits of death.

The stats are from the thread I posted that inspired this game; right here in fact (seems authentic to me :P). I used the Pterran stat modifiers as found in 2e's Dark Sun boxed set; which is STR +1, DEX -1, WIS +1, CHA -2

Unless the blue door goes to an entire lake, it should eventually run out of water, which is why I was thinking it might work if we wait to see if that's the case.

I am not adverse to us pulling on the red chain more, but I want one of us to keep another piece of rope on hand to the white handle to pull in case the red door starts spouting too much fire.

It could be linked to a magical item that spawns water or a portal to the plane of water or something, right? Then it'd never run out.

It could, but we don't know. Hence why I don't think it would hurt us to actually wait a couple turns to verify, as we aren't pressed for time by anything at the moment and saying "we wait awhile" takes all of one post when it happens. Hell, if we waited an hour or two, Dac could meditate and regain the spent PSP from the dimensional door.

Dude, you rolled "10d6 + drop the lowest 7 dice" for your stats.

You do know that I meant for 'authentic' to mean that experience deanruel87 described, right?

Waiting is a reasonable thing, but I think we'd want to wait, say, a couple of minutes to see if the water flow slows at all at the most. Then get back to pulling levers everywhere.
Random thing I saw on Facebook wrote:Just make sure to compare your results from Weapon Bracket Table and Elevator Load Composition (Dragon Magazine #12) to the Perfunctory Armor Glossary, Version 3.8 (Races of Minneapolis, pp. 183). Then use your result as input to the "DM Says Screw You" equation.

Meet you halfway (my couple hours vs your couple minutes) and say we wait a couple turns?

As you wait and the water continues to pour from the partially-opened blue door, the Pterran goes and takes a look into the two pits. He soon reports back "The first pit is full of snakes; the other seems full of frogs with little red spots on their back. The pits are filling up with water and the things seem to be swimming."

Do you:

Pull the red chain some more?

Pull another chain?
Peek into the opening of the red door?

I vote for peeking into red door opening, with care to not stick the head under or through it. If the water in the pits is at all close to filling up, get another rope to pull the black gray wood handle chain.

Getting down on his hands and knees, Tuftwick peers through the opening of the orange door. He says that the floor is full of little round holes, and there are images of flames painted on the wall, and a statue all of gold in the middle of the room, and on the oppostie side a door marked with the sign of a crown.

Do you:

Pull the blue chain some more?
Pull another chain?
Peek into the opening of the red door?
