You can say that about at least half of all pundits on both sides of the political spectrum.

So, umm, hmm. Name one non-conservative pundit that has been wrong... I'll give you like ten years to make your case. They need to be employed by, or appear frequently on, one of the top four news networks or top fifty newspapers. 'Liberals' employed by Fox News aren't liberal, so don't count them.

I know a few off the top of my head. I bet you know none.

So don't even try that equivalency crap in a gamer thread.

Pundit-someone who offers mass-media opinion, analysis or commentary on a particular subject area (most typically political analysis, the social sciences or sport), on which they are presumed to be knowledgeable.

Pundit's are a strange primarily American creature.

They are not really journalists, rarely even political scientists, and never politicians. Yet they are "experts" consulted regularly in the major media for their sage wisdom in matters political.

Like if the Preznit is telling the truth about Sadam's naughty WMDs and how big a stupid invasion we should immediately stage. (hint, pundits almost uniformly got that one wrong, despite the majority of the worlds general public knowing otherwise, and still have their jobs)

In reality they are mostly right wing hacks who hold their position and their life time supply of cash and crack cocaine due to "right wing welfare" (essentially a big bunch of "think tanks" and right wing media groups like Fox and friends that just pay these guys and pass them around like well used Hollywood starlets as long as they tow the party line, no matter how ridiculous)

"Left" wing pundits exist in order to create a pretence as to balance. But they do not receive nearly the same pay and prominence and are significantly less common (and generally not really very left wing, certainly you'll look long and hard to find a left wing American pundit as left in their leanings as what we here in Australia regard as "centre").

Often as not when two pundits appear to debate a matter you get two right wing sides and no left. And then you get debacles like "Iran. Should we invade, or should we nuke it?"

So you can be a professional pundit as a career touting well proven insanity like the total destruction of government, regulation, taxes and the social contract in general but you can't make a pundit career advocating even mild socialist concepts like welfare, public health or public education.

I've always thought it somewhat bizarre how far to the right of countries like france (I'm not totally up with french politics, but aside from an interesting approach to police actions they seem more 'left wing'), australia and the UK the US really is.

Regarding wands...

I jerked my attention back to the leader. He was standing now, confidently holding aloft a stick. Yesterday it wouldn't have fazed me, but knowing what I did now, I froze. I didn't know what model it was, but apparently the leader was confident that its powers would surpass my own.
He grinned evilly and slowly began to level the stick at me.

Re: Wands. My next door neighbor once had a wand up his ... well actually it wasn't a wand just a stick and it wasn't up his ... it went right into his buttocks. He was sledding down a hill and he slipped off his sled. The entry was so clean he didn't realize it happened until a few days later.

You know there is this odd thing that thin is gay. These people need to be poked with a three pointed epee and then politely told that the three folded wound is going to be harder to heal than a traditional two sided wound or the bashing effect that most greatswords actually did on people.

Well, if you can think of a few liberal pundits who have been wrong, what's your dispute with my post?

Anyway, my point was that pundits in general are often wrong, and Bill Kristol isn't a special case.

Of course, if you really want to defend the "liberal pundits are never wrong" theory, tell me how many pundits on either side expected Obama to win Iowa or Hillary Clinton to win New Hampshire. Those results stumped at least 99% of all of them.

Let me get this straight... Because I can answer my own question, the question is invalid?

And because some pundit was wrong on unimportant poll guess that makes up for the guy who's wrong on things that result in thousands of people dying?

Don't be a damned idiot and try to argue here. You screwed up, and tried to pretend that the pundit's side or accuracy didn't matter because the other side made as many mistakes.

But they don't. They don't get the chance to, and they also just don't.

Now you're comparing making a mistake which results in people getting treated poorly or killed - with making a mistake about how people will vote?

You don't have to intentionally look like an idiot. This is where you can say, 'Okay, I thought the parties and platforms didn't matter, I'm sorry.' It's called an apology.

Talisman: I'd allow that too. It'd be pretty cool.

Crissa: IMVU does indeed suck, and the platform thing doesn't have much to do with it. In this instance, you should be thankful your Mac can't run it - it's doing you a favour there!

No, because you can name liberal pundits who have been wrong, your thesis that liberal pundits are never wrong is invalid. You undercut your own point without any help from me.

And because some pundit was wrong on unimportant poll guess that makes up for the guy who's wrong on things that result in thousands of people dying?

You didn't mention any minimum death tolls in either of your previous two posts on this subject.

Don't be a damned idiot and try to argue here. You screwed up, and tried to pretend that the pundit's side or accuracy didn't matter because the other side made as many mistakes.

But they don't. They don't get the chance to, and they also just don't.

No, actually what happened is that you made a statement about Bill Kristol always being wrong about everything (a statement I'm inclined to believe). But even though I'm not a Bill Kristol fan, it seemed odd to pick one guy in a profession full of people who talk out of their asses and are often wrong.

And while the pundits whose mistakes I remember the most are conservative (since I'm probably slightly to the left of center and was raised a Democrat), I know I have watched liberal pundits and thought, "While I'm sympathetic to their viewpoint, what they're saying in this case is wrong." Furthermore, I'm in a public forum where people of various political viewpoints hang out, so I didn't want to needlessly stir the pot by singling out one side of the sorry punditry profession. I had no idea that a completely neutral one-liner about the sorry state of punditry would stir said pot like this.

-Crissa

I see no evidence that I look like an idiot, either intentionally or unintentionally. And I only apologize when I'm convinced I've done something wrong. Suffice it to say, I'm not convinced.

Wow, this is hilarious. Who'd have thought that it would be possible to link to the top of this page within this thread and be on topic.

Let's see...

So far you've:

Not listed any liberal pundits.
Don't know who you're defending.
Don't know the subject you're arguing about...

...And yes, you look like an absolute fool to anyone paying attention. And I'm more the fool for pointing you out. It shows that you haven't been paying attention that you don't know that this thread has caused crying before.

For a footnote to this argument, "In 1997, Kristol and Robert Kagan cofounded the Project for the New American Century (PNAC)..." That's the group that helped W Bush get elected, and invade Iraq. The middle east domino theory was theirs.

There is no Liberal equivalent to this guy. Or many others.
