Taotie'a text could probably be read now. My dude's reluctance to read it directly could either be resolved in a level, or given up now. If no one else (in, what, 24 hours?) has a suggestion as to what to do Neb. will try to read the tattoos sans seer stone.

Oh, and sorry about the drug addiction, Prak. Theoretically, if the black lotus is still in effect(4d6 hours), and there's no untoward synergy with the 2 undefined taken drugs, a tisane (or whatever) of white lotus pollen 'might' prevent the addiction before it starts. Otherwise medium strength addiction isn't that big a deal, again assuming the fancy drugs don't make things worse.

All I know is that I don't really want to run off to the ibis priest yet.

Sounds like y'all need to decide what you want to do.

...if everybody is indecisive, I can do a trigger event, but I thought at this point maybe you'd like to discuss what you were going to do now.

I'm unclear if Taotie already learned snake magic at this point or not 'cause I already did the level up stuff and now I have a snake.

As far as I'm concerned, Taotie has snake magic now. Maybe his little side-trip unlocked it in his brain, maybe he's been looking over Neb and Kamoses' shoulders.

I'm curious about that mysterious camel woman. We also gotta go after the guy with the other half of the book but we got totally owned by his monster girl companions last time.

So, not to push y'all in any particular direction but perhaps to help crystallize your options, so far you've brought up:

1) Study Taotie's new tats some more

2) Find the mysterious camel woman

3) Follow the trail of your enemy back in the direction of Keshatta, City of Magicians

4) Try to wake up Bmin and get more answers

5) Head back to Keshatta, but by a different route

6) Say fuck it to Keshatta, head somewhere else

I vote for study tattoos, camel woman, and ask Bmin stuff.

I vote for Bmin, camel woman, not returning to Keshatta (at least yet, and not by the path taken before*), and messing with the tattoos no sooner than after the sorcerers' hangover, if not later.

*Interest in the Serpent Tree notwithstanding.

Here are the descriptions of the different mirrors. My dude's getting into the sanity-sapping one, hopes to learn to use the silvered mirror, and figures there might be some future use for the scrying window centerpiece.
each of the passages in the scroll seems to correspond to a different mirror, each marked by a unique shape, with their sorcerous properties given briefly:

Long rectangle, six inches long by two wide: "The Glass of Ages, wherein is reflected the images of the past, if configured correctly..." (mechanically, this is the centerpiece of a scrying window (CoC d20 p137).

Square, three inches by three inches: "The Mirror of Tarkhun Atep, who is said to have captured his own reflection therein...woe to those who gaze o'er long upon it!"

A circle of oddly warped glass, about two inches in diameter: "The Glass of Leng, a window into far places and times; much wisdom may be found within its depths, as well as madness, for none have ever mastered it..."

Pentagon, about the breadth of a hand: "A potent scry-glass..." (As silvered mirror, Conan RPG 2nd Ed. p274)

Small triangular shard, set in a rusty frame with a hole on one end: "A useful tool for entrancement! See how it catches the light..." (Focus for the Entrance spell.)

There are several other shards of various irregular shapes but mostly small size, but they do not seem to be individually addressed by the scroll, so their purposes and powers (if any) are unknown.

Okay, in case anybody missed this: you're not at an oasis. You've been to one oasis, it was full of bones and tree women, and you burnt that fucker down. You're currently in your campsite just beyond the valley with the temple, on the pilgrimage route. If you follow the pilgrimage route back the way you came, you go over the stone bridge across the crevasse (where the tentacle monster lived) past the serpent tree, past the ruins where you stole the mummy's treasure and worried about rat-women, and then farther down the road back to the Jackal's Gate of Keshatta.

It's not your fault. I should have made it more clear. Does anybody want to take any other action as Kamoses has a go at reading the ancient forbidden spell aloud?

A majority (Isandro, Taotie, Karlus, Neb) has voted that way, at least.
