Though your example wasn't of someone trying to re-appropriate iconography that the Nazis once used; it was a *direct copy* of a stylized version of the legionary eagle used exclusively by the Nazi party.

You could totally have a spiffy eagle as a logo, but why use one *designed by Nazis*?

Well, the company is trying to spin it as such, but yeah.

I was just curious on thoughts on the subject here.

Holy shit. I'm with Shiritai. Boy London could have used any other of the various forms of the Roman eagle, but they didn't. They had to use the image that most closely resembled the Nazi version.

WTF?

Oh it's a total wtf. Agreed. But is it bad in itself when the swastika is removed?

Yes, very wrong. There are still actual Nazis in the world, some recently took over a country, still using the Nazi symbols to promote their fascist hatred of everything which they declare it is morally right to destroy on the grounds that they do not personally like it.

Fascism itself is still a dangerous and active political philosophy that promotes state-industrial cooperation in genocide (just recently of the Russian population of Ukraine). The Nazis did appropriate ancient and rare symbols, true, but they made them strongly associated with fascism by doing so and fascists are still using them.

Some guy's got that tattooed on his arm, it's pretty fucking obvious what it means.

It's not a mistake, and even if it was the only option is to withdraw and apologise and name, shame, and sack the stupid fuck who put it on your cover.

Being a bit sneaky about it doesn't make it OK. It means they knew what they were doing was wrong and did it anyway. To seek controversy by subtly promoting fascism in a sad but not actually deniable way. For sales, to fascists.

Like how hot ladies in Nazi-like uniforms are still hot ladies, but they're wearing Nazi uniforms specifically to help actual Nazi sympathisers have a wank while thinking of how cool some more fascist genocide would be. Which is not OK. At all.

Um.

Koumei, do you want to refute the idea that people who think jackbooted dommes are hot sympathize with nazis, or should I?

This is a dominatrix:

This is a Nazi lady:

There is a difference.

(Note: a google image search for "nazi lady" comes up with quite a few unattractive results.)

Ok, after trying to GIS what I meant by jackbooted dominatrix... yeah, I recant my position.

...on the other hand, when I GIS'd just "dominatrix" this came up:
Image
And is essentially what I meant (the difference being that this is a shitty halloween costume.)

However, with how fucking hard it is to find what I mean minus the armband, I still recant, because apparently people who think that the SS officer outfit was hot enough to use in kinky sex seriously do sympathize with nazis. That or they're amazingly committed to historical accuracy in their dominatrix outfits.

Thanks Prak. I think you'll find a great many adult "Halloween costumes" are actually just a way to sell sex getups in mainstream shops. Rather like how back massagers and vibrating chairs are actually sex toys.

Oh, of course. I'm just weird in that I demand a higher quality in both my halloween costumes and sex get ups.

There was a post mentioning how only providing healthcare to the rich means the rich get crappier healthcare, something involving infrastructure I believe, and I've been trying to find it. Anyone got a lead?

Anyone happen to have an image of a vaguely hindi/arabic/persian mecha/robot/android?

A potential new player wants to play a warforged and I'm putting them into Greyhawk as creations of the Baklunish. Now I just need to find a vaguely fitting image until I get around to drawing something.

Question for the history buffs-

Did any ancient cultures have set customs for welcoming home a family member that nearly died while away in the army or such?

For reference, the party in my game rescued the son of the Grey College archmage/headmaster from demon-infested dungeons, afflicted with a demonic familiar graft and brought him to a temple for healing, and the archmage is throwing a party in gratitude. I'm just wondering if there's anything historical I can look at for this sort of celebration (beyond the parable of the Prodigal son, since the archmage can do a lot better than slaughtering a single fatted calf).

Maybe look into middle eastern hospitality traditions.

In the story of Garuda, the amrita is defended by a "murderous machine wielding spinning blades." Sorry, I don't know what the actual Hindi name for it is, and can't find a super great picture of it. But basically, it's a robot with buzz saw hands.

Awesome, Frank, I'll start searching for that.

On the party thing- that doesn't have to be Arab/Persian/Hindu, it's an elven wizard inn the city of Greyhawk, the arab/Persian/Hindu mix is just the baklunish humans

I had a warforged with a statuesque head a few years back, before he was remodeled. Something like: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/214/5044 ... dfd0ce.jpg or https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-hP_h ... sargon.jpg

I had a heckuva time finding a decent mid-east themed robot on my googling and was saddened that Bender was best I could find. I really thought a robot or android shiva would've netted me something.

Warforged Wizard got so-so results tho. I remembered that mini and thought it might be a good base to work from.
