Yes.

But Dragonborn where a 3.5 idiocy, if I recall correctly (although those had a better excuse for dragontits). So does ISP rage at humans, dwarfs and elves, since those also happen to be in 4e?

They were in 3.5, in a fairly late splat that seven people bought. Yes I'm one of them, but in my defence it added Warlock invocations.

And their whole story was stupid, but it does at least explain why they'd look more or less humanoid, including boobs where necessary, and "turning into something more monstrous" seems like the kind of awesome thing PCs should be doing as they gain levels. Not that it worked out like that - you either took that pseudo-template as a starting character, or you never did.

4E turned them into one of those Breeds-True races, and they get the tits but don't have tails (Tieflings got those). There was nothing stopping them from using Lizardmen other than their own incompetence.

Factions provide resses to low level adventurers for the cost of all XP and rewards from that session.

And you can progress through the ranks, unlocking stuff.
Rank 1: you can participate in faction specific activities.
Rank 2: secret misions.
And you can be apprenticed to a higher-ranked faction member (rules to be released later)
Rank 3: faction specific downtime activities with rewards (rules to be released later)
Rank 4: Become a mentor (rules to be released later)
Rank 4: Faction leader (rules to be released when high-level play becomes available)
With this, why doesn't everyone become an adventurer? I mean, there is no risk with the resses and adventuring gives you an absurd amount of gold.

Foxwarrior wrote:The Tarrasque is like the perfect poster child for how having CR and Experience be divorced from each other could be used for something interesting. It's obviously a CR 5 creature, because any party of level 5 characters should be able to figure out how to defeat it. But it's also clearly worth a lot of experience, because it's a gigantic monster with buckets of numbers, and if included in a high-level encounter with allies that actually help it deal with high-level techniques, it's no pushover.
The problem with the tarrasque it is a brute force ragemonster that attacks everything that comes near it.

Its pretty terrible regardless.

What if the Tarrasque fell into a slippery hole big enough for a tarrasque to fall down

Dragonborn seem like something a 13-year-old, or someone with the mind of one, would think was cool. Especially now that Skyrim has popularized the name.

I'm not a huge fan of the name, but I'm all for reptile races, and I don't have any problem with specifically draconic ones. I feel like kobolds already have a ton of that wrapped up, though they have their own shit too (small, traps, whatever) so it might be nice to have something medium and dragon-y rather than taking a kobold and making it less koboldy...

But I don't really see why dragonborn are bad beyond the name being dumb and idiots putting tits on everything.

So if your halfling is blinded or attacking an invisible creature, might as well start swinging with a heavy weapon that you are not prof. in. Makes no difference since disadvantage does not stack.

Frankly, I'm gonna bring a great sword with every character in case I'm melee attacking with disadvantage.

Well, see, it's fine, because real ROLEplayers wouldn't ever abuse the system like that.

And if a player does that, the DM should just kill his character with lightning from the heavens, for daring to bring up that the game has glaring mechanical defects that incentivize what would otherwise be considered irrational behavior.

Does anybody but me care about the digital initiative?

Codename: Morningstar broke cover and revealed its official branding as DungeonScape.

http://www.dnddungeonscape.com/

Couple of previews:

http://www.madadventurers.com/my-dinner ... e-preview/

http://melsmifgames.wordpress.com/2014/ ... rningstar/

Takeaways:

STILL, NOBODY IS GODDAMN SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT PRICE OR EBOOKS. FUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Ahem.

3 phased release:

* The Player’s Release: Which will cover Character Creation and management including full use of the library search capabilities for books currently available.

*The DM’s Release: That will include adventure/campaign tracking, player management, and the sharing network

*The Creator’s Release: All the customization, The Forge.

The UI is amorphous; clearly set up so that the canvas can accommodate smartphones and tablets, all the display fields are re-orderable and resizeable.

No map-field, but DM can send text and images to players.

Players can send messages to each other and to the DM

The system will do dicerolls for you, but not apply them automatically to a player or enemy.

Modules will be purchaseable for use within the app via the Library, and will contain preconfigured maps, enemies, etc. This could be nifty, and obviate some/all of the angst regarding the layout issues of the physical books/modules.

Player release "hopefully in a few weeks" per the @dnddungeonscape twitter account. iOS first, then android and web.

When I pointed out on wizards, during play test like 2, that was the response I got. Along with "they will fix it before release".

So yeah, this a huge glaring problem with the core of the system that anyone who has ever used it for a single encounter realizes, and has known since the beginning of the play test. But mearls didn't bother to fix it, because ... Bushit?

@Ferret- no. Just give me a damn pdf, and spare me the horribly implemented bullshit.

Just the claim that they can't get basic print book functionality to work in a digital content format is bullshit. To me that is a straight up admission that they're liars, incompetents and/or idiots.

What if...
Guys...
What if, each extra instance of disadvantage, gave you, like, an extra d20 to roll, and then you take the lowest of all of those!

In some ways that would actually be better (though in many worse), because add is, if you already have disadvantage, or even advantage, the system actually rewards you for doing the MOST absurd thing possible, and just stacking up 'penalties' because none of them actually matter after the first, or after the first 'bonus.' So if you're averting your eyes from a basilisk, you might as well also throw a nearby great sword, while standing on one foot and quacking, because absolutely none of that matters.

As patches go, it's also consistent, and the mechanism is easily executed. A non-trivial number of people are going to be playing it that way, if it's not just made the official answer flat-out.

Anyone else notice the ancient red dragon has a +7 stealth modifier? He has two skills, one of them being stealth. which he has a really nice modifier in, considering dex 10 and being gargantuan. I'm not even mad.

figured that much. I guess if there is a stealth penalty for being fucking Godzilla sized, it's disadvantage. Explains a lot from Emmerich's Godzilla movie....
