Yeah, so 4th ed Player's Guide is finally out, and I'm not terribly encouraged by the things I'm hearing.
I'd really like to get back into Earthdawn, and I've been doing a bit of edition shopping. Back in the day, I got several of the 1st Ed books, so I have plenty of the fluff and the things that got me interested in the setting in the first place, but I'd like to move to an improved edition.
I found this horrible, horrible thing on "FASA Games" website...
Ugh, and it looks like through their site, you can buy stuff from every edition under the sun published from 2005 on. But this thread has convinced me that even if I don't go to 4e, then 3e would be a fine choice.Game Editions
First Edition (ED1) is the original game created and published by FASA Corporation in 1993.
Second Edition (ED2) was published by Living Room Games (licensed from FASA Corporation) in 2001.
Classic Edition (EDC) was published by RedBrick Limited (licensed from FASA Corporation) in 2005.
Third Edition (ED3) was published by RedBrick LLC and Mongoose Publishing (licensed from FASA Corporation) in 2009.
Revised Edition (EDR) is the current edition of Earthdawn, published by FASA Games, Inc. (licensed from FASA Corporation) in 2012.
That said, do any of the participants of this thread have any knowledge of 4e? I haven't purchased it because I want a physical copy of the book in my hand.
I'm sad to hear some of the layout is crap, and the art is ordinary, but I feel like I can look past this if the system works. My 1e books still have nice art and fluff, and I can still use all of that, even if 4e is lackluster.
