It's a maple-flavored, waffle-esque cookie, right? I've never had one, but I was under the impression that they were kind of like pizzelles.

Oh yeah, I've had those things! They were pretty good.

They are like that, yes. Though the maple-syrup's in the middle of the cookie.
What are pizzelles?

It's the Italian-inspired cookie that Americans serve with Gelato.
It's an ironed-on waffled cookie, like I imagine a stroopwafel to be, only made by Italian Americans in New York (not New Amsterdam).

I'm just going to add that I'm eating a stroopwafel right now, fuckers.
And welcome to Carcharot, who (or whom?) I don't think I've welcomed yet.

Hi all!
[Troy McClure's Voice] All of you might know me as boschdevil. (stupid corporate policy to not use corporate name outside of work) [/Troy McClure Voice] Oh yeah ... I Loren and I'm an alcoholic. (This is the AA board, right?)
Anyways, I'll see you all at the flipside.

Re: stroopwafels
Seriously, I work for the Robert Bosch corporation. Since I went to Arizona State where the nickname is the Sun Devils, I combined two of them together to make ... boschdevil. Well, they sent out a memo saying that we can't use the company name in anything during our off-time anymore, and the rest is history. Yep, it sucks and blows.
Re: stroopwafels
I got you. That does indeed blow. And suck. Anyhow, welcome!

Honestly, I'd prefer just Power_Word_Wedgie, figuring I kinda like my job and relly don't want to lose it.
I'm going to try to change my name over on the GitP board and I should be complete. For some reason, the other night it didn't let me do that.

Bosch Bosch Bosch
But does that memo forbid people you know from using the word "Bosch" too...?
And I contend that boschdevil is an entirely new word that just so happens to have some letters in common with a "forbidden word" whose pronunciation can't be forbidden in the first place anyway, memos notwithstanding...
In fact I'd swear that the memo forbids official use of the Company name, not informal reference to company itself. I mean, you can't go around and say «I work for a company, but they forbid me to tell you its name, so please don't ask...».

If they say it in casual reference (ie. "I sure I have a Bosch water pump" or somthing like that), then no, there wouldn't be a problem. But they wouldn't want to allow people to use it monnikers or anything like that. What is the difference for me? I work for them so they have more leverage over me.

Well, figuring that I read the memo, I pretty much understand what they were saying. And at the end of the day, I have to ask myself, "Is a account name worth losing my job?" Figuring that (a) I've got a really good job and (b) for the area where I live, for my occupation speciality, there aren't too many employers that pay as high as they do, then my answer is no. It's just not worth having the headache of going to court to keep - even if I feel differently.

Kirin, you're trying to apply logic to the motivations of a corporate legal department. Down that path lies madness and sweaty palms.

Well, I suppose this is where I introduce myself. I'm Caedrus.
I play D&D, DM D&D, write stuff, and am into Eberron in a rather big way. It's good to be here.

See you in September.
I'm going to Europe tomorrow and I'll be back by the beginning of September.
Book of Gears material is being worked on. I don't know how much I'll be able to get done in Berlin or Amsterdam, but I can't help but think I'll meet an arbitrary late-September deadline.
