Sorry, don't have time for anything fancy:
Image

Big green circle is the tentacle tree, slightly smaller dark green circles are the other two ambulatory trees, black circles are (currently non-ambulatory) trees, light green circles are adventurers, red circle is Vian.

This is where I somewhat regret taking Feeble as one of my flaws. Wasn't thinking about Concentration when I took it. Although I still succeed at casting defensively as long as I roll a 5 or higher.

Anyhow, I doubt the giant trees have good Reflex saves. So I think I'm going to cast grease (casting defensively) on the two next to me. How close together are they (i.e. would I be able to grease both of them)?

There's about three feet between the trunks; a 10-foot square area of effect should affect both.

Probably going to pull back after greasing the trees (or failing to) in order to help in the fight with the tentacle tree, unless you guys think it's wiser for me to attack and/or tank against the two I'm greasing.

I admit, I done fucked up because I thought that th Sha'ir loses it's spells slot if it doesn't cast the spell, but by RAW the spell does not mention that the spell slot is lost, simply unused as the spell fades away harmlessly.

So yeah, I'm going to be useless for this bout. Sorry.

I could've dumpster dived for a better spell, for the situation BUT I couldn't find anything particularly helpful outside of Wall of Smoke that I have on my spells known list that I could use to get at least one spell shot in.

So, no one has any potions or Cure spells?
Ancient History wrote:He's not being grappled (and, in fact, will probably be dropped perfunctorily the next time I post), and yeah, grabbing him would normally be a move action that would provoke an Attack of Opportunity, but if Darth wanted to zoom in, catch him as he drops, and fly out of threat range again, we can call that a Full Round Action which provokes an AoO.
How high is Vian? i.e. would he take damage when he falls off the tree? If so, Darth, you should probably focus on saving him first, unless he wants to make a new character.

Vian still has his toes on the ground, he won't take any damage from being dropped (y'know, aside from the usual losing hitpoints because he's dying thing).

Clara has got a couple Cure Minor wounds prepared.

Also if combat has started I should start getting random maneuvers, but since I could only get melee stuff and I'm not getting anywhere those murdertrees if I can avoid it, so doesn't matter a lot what I would've rolled. Unless the trees can also move on water and I draw aggro from them, in which case AH can roll a couple d6 for me.

What's their size exactly? Large? Huge? Would like to know to have an idea of their rape reach.

What happens if you bullrush a helpless, prone person? I'm considering the viability of using gust of wind to clear up some of the area, and earth channeling Vian away from the tree so Clara can CLW him without getting AoO'd.

If the enemy is still within threat range, you'd still be subject to an AoA when you try to reach in and drag him out. Or are you talking about the fallen trees?

I don't have to go near it. Minor Earth Channeling lets me bullrush someone who's touching the ground, within close range. Though, yeah, I suppose the tree would get an AoO against Vian when he gets pushed. Okay... back to the drawing board.

Which doesn't penetrate smoke, but is otherwise in full effect, yes.

Hey maglag, Clara's Eggshell Grenades cause 1d4 rounds of blindness, no save. The tree has eyes. If it's blinded, it won't be able to take AoOs if its blinded. If I clear the smoke with a Gust of Wind, you could try to blind the tree, and then someone else could move Vian out of there without incurring AoOs.

Actually, for what it's worth anyone in the smoke has concealment.

Can we see Vian? Or, is remembering which square he was in, enough to go in, grab him and move him out?

You know about where he was, but you can't see him with the smoke.

maglag, could you go in there and drag him out? I can probably clear some smoke, but I should probably do that after you do that if you do, so you don't provoke AoOs from doing it.

It is unlikely that these things use eyes to see but who knows.

Would I be able to (try to) detect Vian by scent if I head to where I last saw him? Or would the smoke block that out?
