So, what the fuck?
4chan mods are a collective group of powerhungry juvenile little shits.
I might start hacking them too but you know how it goes.
Ocean, piss, etc.
But that's the last time I ever report spam there.. they can find it themselves.
Why did this happen?
I used the report feature twice on a copy-pasted ad link to 2 outside commercial sites, within the same 30 seconds.
That's all.

heh
Well, I've been wondering why I don't even care either.
Then I remembered that the quality of stuff going up in the forums has been steadily declining in the last few months. At this point, I seriously have better finds on Google for any weird subject I'm searching for.
And now I know why.
Actually, I'm shocked the reason wasn't listed as "Stupid user name" or something equally inane. It wouldn't be out of character for the members to do such a thing.

Heh, you should try accessing the boards while using Tor some time. All the crazy fucks use it, so you can get some really interesting 'ban' messages.

It's a Mac, it goes without saying. ZING!
Or, more correctly, there are what, 2 or 3 ways of putting any given special character in. Some of these are not compatible with certain OS, browsers etc. For instance, I used to copy-paste Moonspeak from translation websites into RPoL when a character was using Moonspeak and I wanted to show up a Weeaboo who thought they were clever for adding "Kawaii" to their text.
But then I found that that method actually screwed the server up, so rather than memorising the code for individual characters, I decided not to bother.
Anyway, Catharz, what's Tor?

It's also called an ampersand.
I came across "&c" the other day in a quote from some scientific literature, indicating that once upon a time, "b&" would have been read as "bet" (the ampersand is a stylized version of the Latin et meaning "and" - "&c" stood for "etcetera").
I don't think it's a computer thing...
My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.
Re: b&
My computer isn't fucked up. What is fucked up is assuming that someone else is sitting on a computer using the same browser and font. That's lame, okay? Because it's not saving the character's name or code - like you type in - it's saving the character location in whatever font you happen to be using at the time. Which is different for every font!

Re: b&
baw.
Here's something funny: either someone has a vendetta against me there (probably from repeated weird 'tripfag' comments, which many anons seem to loathe), or the previous ban has lapsed into "perma-ban".
Either I wait for their database to reset (which happens every time they suffer massive crashes or get DDOS'd) or appeal to their vile hides.

Re: b&
I was only ever banned once - a 3 day PROMOTION! for posting porn in a worksafe board (some of my art in /tg/ - you know, the roleplaying/wargaming board that's filled with porn on a regular basis).
Honestly, I don't think they should have worksafe sections - kids aren't allowed on the site full-stop, and people shouldn't be on 4chan at work. They should be, you know, working. No-one browsing 4chan is up for any kind of promotion regardless of nipples, and are liable to receive a written warning regardless (or they're so high up that they can look at whatever they want regardless).
Of course, since then I've (as a drawfag) posted porn there again. Well, I say porn but really, "nudity", nothing shocking, and haven't been promoted. Then again, the mods do seem to have abandoned /tg/. And it's doing just fine.

They're too buisy right now digging /b/ out of everything else, like a malignant tumor.

Re: b&
From what I hear, /b/ sucks these days, and /v/ is /b/ mk II, and /a/ is /b/ mk III...
And /tg/ has decent discussions about /v/ or /a/ material, when need be. It even has the good elements of old /b/, sometimes.

Re: b&
Koumei at [unixtime wrote:1202534082[/unixtime]]Anyway, Catharz, what's Tor?
Tor is an 'anonymizer'. They call it an "onion router", (hence Tor, The Onion Router) because it encrypts your communication and sends it through two or three other tor users and then out an exit node to an internet. The basic use is busting through things like The Great Firewall, but it's also good for just keeping your traffic anonymous in general (especially if you're an exit node -- It's hard to tell what traffic is just you and what you're routing).
At any rate, it's ideal for spammers and trolls, because banning you is really just banning that exit node (and they're assholes who don't care about other users, especially the ones providing the service to them). So about half the time you try to access a Chan or something over Tor, it turns out that somebody posting kiddie porn has already gotten that exit node banned.
[Edit] Ironically, anonymous board mods hate anonymizers, because the fact that the board isn't really anonymous is their only handle to control it with. [/Edit]

Re: b&
True. Fox News was right about that.
"You are not anonymous."
How else would they patrol posts and IP ban?
To a Chan mod, there is no illusion of anonymity. It exists only for the casual user.

Re: b&
The point of Anonymous is not that you can't be found out. It's that you don't have an identity. You might still have the same IP, but to everyone else you're just Anonymous. Unless you're a tripfag.

One of my friends was a namefag until someone did the "Disregard that, I suck cocks" routine.
He then became a tripfag. That... well, it didn't make me sad, as that'd suggest I particularly cared. The thing is, he learned the wrong lesson from that.

Namefag: Someone who dares to post using a name instead of being Anonymous. People aren't supposed to be attention whores, grabbing up anything that helps their reputation.
Due to there not being passwords and stuff, this can lead to:
Anonymous: I like Skub
Bill: I hate Skub... Skubfag
Bill: Disregard that, I suck cocks
Tripfag: Because of the above, you can use a "tripcode". If you put a ! followed by a word or random mix of characters at the end of your name, it creates a little mix of random characters that lets people know there is a tripcode there. You can only have the same tripcode by putting in the same sequence of characters after the !.
Naturally, this defeats the entire purpose of being anonymous, and thus, Anonymous hates tripfags. Even a banner on the site itself says "Secure tripcodes are for jerks!"
Note: ______[EDITED] is only vaguely used as an insult. Half the time, it's just become a suffix.

Re: b&
One advantage to 'tripfagging': people do recognize you, and can make direct requests effectively. It's a common situation where the power of many fails when the competence of one may succeed alone.
"Liska" in /s/ for instance has something new dug up every week. I respect her a lot.
"Popcorn Mariachi" of /r/ is another, although he's so autistic that I look as smooth as Jude Law by comparison.
It's an interesting cultural phenomenon, where it's allowable to give yourself a name (and the owners/true mods really don't care... hey even moot does it) but the practice is discouraged by many
My point is that the Chans are not designed to enforce true anonymity.
IMHO it's an interesting movement but destined to fail.
I don't use a name when making requests randomly, and do use a name when making original posts and answering questions.
A name is a tool that some seem to fail to grasp.
And true, __[EDITED] is so common even in the school playgrounds of my childhood that if you haven't heard it in an English speaking community by now, you really haven't been exposed to the populous at large.
It means nothing, it's been made an exceedingly generic term, and the people that propagate its usage as an insult are worth dog shit.
