Welcome, to IronHell.
Shrapnel wrote:TFwiki wrote:Soon is the name of the region in the time-domain (familiar to all marketing departments, and to the moderators and staff of Fun Publications) which sees release of all BotCon news, club exclusives, and other fan desirables. Soon is when then will become now.
Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

It always weirds me out when individual porn stars are frothing right wing lunatics. I mean, I get that the right wing are by far the largest consumers of pornography, but their ideology really does also involve outlawing the pornography. How do you get to the point where you join forces with the people who literally want to have you put in jail or even executed for your career choice?Ancient History wrote:https://www.newsweek.com/mercedes-carre ... ga-1322242
And then stuff like this comes out, and I remember that a significant number of people are just dangerous crazy people no matter what their vocation.

I don't conservative. The neighbor kid is currently under house arrest for some bad choices he made, and his mom - one of those not-a-victim, take-personal-responsibility claiming people - has been giving every excuse in the book why her son shouldn't pay for those bad decisions and how he's being targeted unfairly. She wants to move to Alaska to get away from the local liberals, but she doesn't seem to realize it's not the liberals who are throwing the book at her kid.

Sorry. I went all tangenty. It's a kid in my RL neighborhood.

I saw this somewhere else, and it occurred to me- there seems to be some kind of positive correlation between conservative politics and child molestation.
Is this just confirmation bias and I'm not remembering liberal child molestors, or does the right actually have some weird predisposition to be kid diddlers?

Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.
People who are rich and powerful enough to get away with child molestation on the kind of scale required to eventually become national news when they get caught are rich and powerful. The rich and powerful skew right. It is probably a correlation that doesn't have anything to do with being right wing really.Prak wrote:I saw this somewhere else, and it occurred to me- there seems to be some kind of positive correlation between conservative politics and child molestation.

The U.S. isn't a democracy and if you think it is, you are a rube.DSMatticus wrote:Kaelik gonna kaelik. Whatcha gonna do?
That's libertarians for you - anarchists who want police protection from their slaves.
I wonder if it also has something to do with the fact that conservative ideology is basically built on dehumanizing people to force your will upon them.

It has to do with the fact that wealth and power are inherited by most. Self-made wealth and power is actually very, very rare.Kaelik wrote: The rich and powerful skew right. It is probably a correlation that doesn't have anything to do with being right wing really.
So of course right wing ideology appeals to those people that have inherited. They not only have lived with the corrosive effects of wealth on their empathy and moral decision-making processes, but they certainly don't want any changes to a system that empowered them regardless of their own merits or talents, unless those changes further empower the wealthy specifically.

Well, it's hardly news that Jodorowsky is a giant perv.
Also, I can't think of a single F4 movie I would rather re-watch than reading Jodorowsky's F4 fanfic.

Every time you play in a "low magic world" with D&D rules (or derivates), a unicorn steps on a kitten and an orphan drops his ice cream cone.
Yeah, aside from the MANY problems with that, I really wonder at the weirdness of knowing who Plasticman is, but not knowing the actually famous stretchy hero who is literally eponymous with one of the most popular comics which he stars in.Shrapnel wrote:...He couldn't remember the name "Mr. Fantastic", but he could get him confused with the stretchy guy from DC?

Jodorowsky is an enigma.
