Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The adjoining rooms are clearly both long-disused, containing mostly ancient rickety furniture – beyond each is a further room containing stacked boxes. In the eastern room, Grobnar's dog whuffs at the disturbed dust. Lodin finds an oddly out-of-place feather pillow behind a toppled stool, but only the fireplace, chimney choked with broken timbers, could conceal anything further. In the western room, Norda sees a gaping hole in the ceiling above the fireplace, about six feet across.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar decides to have Lodin check the fireplace to see if anything is indeed concealed, after disarming any existing traps, of course.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
"What makes you imagine there's anything of value...?" Lodin grouses, but complies. He reaches past the broken timbers and you hear a scrape of brick. Then, the rogue recoils like a startled cat as the debris choking the chimney shifts alarmingly. "Unstable," he mutters, trembling. "Ah! Surprises make my blood sting." He places an ornate dagger on the table, its blade gleaming the unmistakable blue-white of alchemical silver.
Norda enters the western room, but nothing new is revealed besides another neglected chair by the fireplace.

Norda moves two spaces west and looks through the next door. And I guess says "Clear so far" to the others.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
"Huh. Can you identify that, Grobnar? The question is, is the best way forward west or east or north?" Vorbar ponders. He bends to pick up the everburning torch from the floor.

"Not really, Vorbar. Let's go west, as all the best songs say the good things are to the west. Don't forget to check the fireplace on the west room before we move on, though."

A hand wielding a heavy shield can't be used to even hold another item.Vorbar stows his shield and raises the torch instead. Grobnar and Lodin move to the west, where Norda surveys the storeroom — more dust and stacked boxes.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Vorbar heads west as well, stopping just north of Grobnar's current position and east of Norda's, holding the torch of illusionary flame up.

Norda moves one square west into the room, and if there's no obstruction on the space south of there, moves one space south to be in the corner.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda turns the corner to discover further boxes in her way. Grobnar urges his dog past her, and grasps the lid of one of the containers.
A deep voice calls out, 'Who's there?' It seems to come from the highest-stacked box in the southwest corner.

Norda moves past to the north west corner to keep an eye on things north while others deal with whatever it is.

Grobnar holds his hand up for silence, and directs one of his companions to open the box while he aims his crossbow at it.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The small box isn't pictured, but it is there in the space just north of Norda.Norda discovers that the opening in the north wall leads to a dusty space, seemingly empty except for a box in the northwest corner shaped like a fat cylinder, about 18" across and 12" high. Lodin clambers up the stacked boxes with halfling facility, but as he reaches for the crate that spoke, it speaks again: "Is Bargle with you?"
Lodin pauses and looks back at Grobnar dubiously.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar frowns and gestures with his morningstar for Lodin to continue.

Norda goes round the corner to see what's there, staying clear of the cylinder, and advancing a few spaces if it is clear.

Norda's darkvision reveals a decrepit bed in a dusty room.
Lodin throws open the lid of the box, revealing... nothing within, only the bare wood and nails of its construction. The deep voice speaks again, out of that apparent emptiness: "Oh, well then, never mind."
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
"Hrm. Bargle's sense of humor is apparently infamous as well." Grobnar turns to look after Norda.

There's no indication that the room is more or less than it appears; a long-abandoned bedroom.
In the storeroom, Lodin pokes his blade into the envoiced box, perhaps hoping to find some invisible thing. When that produces no result, he joins Grobnar in searching, but all the boxes are apparently as empty as the one that spoke.

Grobnar sighs, and heads to the bedroom's northwest door with his crossbow readied to see what lies beyond that.
