Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda walks north, looks through northwest door. If there's no obvious threat, once Grobnar reaches there she goes to the eastern door to look through there.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar sees only inky blackness through the northwest door, until Lodin scurries up behind him with the lantern. Its light reveals the further doorway and downward stairs that Norda's darkvision showed her moments before. The eastern door opens onto a chamber strewn with rubbish, and another bedroom beyond.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
If anyone mentions the stairs, Vorbar will head in that direction. "Bargle is more likely to be on a different floor, I'd say."

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda steps into the eastern room, then south into the southwest corner, and if nothing presents itself, keeps watch on the eastern door.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar peeks around the corners of the western hallways to see if anything interesting is behind them. “Bargle might be on another floor, but who knows if the floor we are in holds anything we might need to deal with him?”

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
In the room north off the passage, Grobnar sees a chest with what appears to be a log suspended above it by a rope. Vorbar peers down the steps, which lead down to a room with a statue of a man facing the stairway.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar proposes that either Vorbar or Norda drag the chest from below the log using a silk rope.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Vorbar shakes his head. "Why would there be special weapons against Bargle sitting around up here, in his stronghold? He's not going to make killing him a game." He stays near the top of the stairs.

Norda joins the others, and tosses a loop of rope around the chest to drag it out from under the log.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
It takes a little time to form and cast a serviceable loop, but the chest is soon retrieved from beneath the menacing timber. Lodin examines it, and finds it unlocked and untrapped. Within is a small trove of coins, mostly silver. "Not worth the carrying further in," says Lodin. He combs through the coins with his fingers, seeking for anything buried within them. "Nice bonus on the way out, though."
(I've shuffled Vorbar onto the actual stairs so I can display what he sees below.)

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Norda steps into the room and the north and moves to the southwest corner, avoiding the log.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Vorbar frowns at the statue and turns to watch what the others are doing. "The statue is likely something to worry about."

Grobnar responds, "Probably. I say we shoot it or destroy it in some manner."

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The log rests with one end on the ground, and the other end raised above where the chest used to rest, like a cudgel poised to crack a walnut. The suspension is the result of a rope, attached to hooks embedded in the log. This rope runs through several other hooks set in the ceiling, then passes through a small hole to whatever remains of the floor above.

Grobnar agrees to go upstairs if the rest of the group wants to do this.

In the next room is a life-size statue of a reptiloid like the ones you saw outside. It stands in the center of the room, holding out a crude stone sword.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Grobnar suggests the stairs, as he would rather deal with the statue that is impeding the party's way to the castle's deeper levels before messing around anywhere else.

Norda steps into the room, avoiding the statue, and moving to the south west corner of the room if nothing scary presents itself.
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
Vorbar peers after Norda, but stays at the top of the stairs for now.

Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
The statue room shows no signs of anything but the statue and the door in the northeast. Lodin joins the others by the stairs.
"Yeah, this is a hunt. I want to go after the fox until something's actually in the way. If we hit a door or something we can't shift, then we can start poking around aimlessly."
Re: [3.5][Nostalgia] Kill Bargle
"Indeed. He's not likely to have left weapons against him lying around, particularly not just inside his base. If we find a vault or the like then it might make sense to look for useful magic items there," Vorbar agrees.

Norda joins the others. "I was hoping to clear everything up here so nothing is left to get in our way if we have to leave in a hurry, but if everyone else wants to change levels, I'll agree".
