D&D As A Literal Beer & Pretzels Game

Post by deaddmwalking »

I saw an add for Heroes of Barcadia.
Heroes of Barcadia is a 2-6 player tile-based, dungeon-crawling tabletop party game with a liquid twist: your character’s health is measured by the drink in your glass. Heroes of Barcadia uses the Liquid Life System™ to determine HP, and the liquid you put in it is up to you. Will you use soda, water, alcohol, or another beverage of your choice?
Something like this could be fun. Too bad I don't play in person with my gaming friends (we're all over the country and use videoconferencing). This night be a fun way to I troduce my non-RPG friends in my poker group to the game.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I read through most of this game at PAX last year because it was in the beer garden but almost nobody was playing it in spite of free copies being right there. The game seems pretty straightforward, but it's just a card-based dungeon crawler iirc. And a drinking one, like Drinking Quest. But it comes with custom cups, unlike Drinking Quest.

It mostly annoyed me that people at a gaming con were sitting there drinking beer while not playing the beer game that was on the same table they were drinking beer at. Come on folks, the beer game was in front of you! Maybe I'll get to try it in 2026 and will return to give it a proper review.
