A million years before humans invented fire or the Cybrtrons first oiled their gears, the Ancient Ones ruled the Milky Way. For reasons lost in the mysteries of time, the Ancient Ones channeled all of their galaxy-spanning efforts into the building of one huge robot. There were twenty star systems in the realm of the Ancient Ones, and each of the twenty was given the task of building one part of the massive robot. But for reasons unknown to modern people, the Ancient Ones' civilization vanished between the parts being completed and the robot actually being assembled.

A team of humans discovered one part of the Ancient Robot in the year 2289 C. E. while exploring the planet Pluto. It provided them with the secret of interstellar travel and a map showing the location of the other nineteen robot parts. They also determined that another part had been activated.

The planet now named Cybos is ruled by a civilization of robots who overthrew their soft-skinned creators centuries ago. They have also discovered a part of the Ancient Robot, which provided them with the secret of interstellar travel, a map showing the location of the other nineteen robot parts, and the information that another part was activated.

One player or team will play Mikael Renshaw, Earth's greatest star pilot. The other will play E-Ben, Cybos' most advanced combat robot. Each of you is aware of the other. Humans see Cybrtrons as killing machines bent on brutal conquest, and Cybrtrons firmly believe that all soft skins are aspiring slavemasters.

Each piece of the Ancient Robot has an effect; the Ancient Robot part you found gave you a list, but the list confusingly does not perfectly match your list of systems, and what's this "Black Hole" stuff? The partially-assembled Ancient Robot you have will fight on your side...if you've found parts that give it Hit Points and attacks. If you fight the opposing team you can attack their Ancient Robot freely, confident that you can repair it if you win.

(Lists will be posted in individual team threads.)

Also, the Ancient Robot's programming apparently wants the conflict preventing it from being assembled to be resolved, and doesn't much care who wins. When eighteen Ancient Robot parts are found, the last one found will automatically teleport the team who found it to attack the other team.

Is anyone interested in this, and which team, if so?

I'll join. I'll lean towards Earth but I'm not fussed. Just put me where convenient.

I will not be able to have reliable internet access on Thanksgiving Week since I will be out of town. I guess I will pick E-Ben to balance things out, if you are willing to accommodate these possible delays.

Though I've largely been running both turns simultaneously, officially Mikael goes first while E-Ben sits there, then E-Ben takes a turn while Mikael sits there, and so on...which means that as Mikael ends turn in the Burgundy system (and would be declaring a new destination had I bothered with that knowing you would never reach it), E-Ben arrives there and the final battle begins.

Congratulations.

Having more than one person in a team really helps things, as I felt that a lot of my choices were suboptimal, especially towards the end when I was battling with a rather sudden and nasty flu case.

IMO, this is one of the better adventures in the series.

We were lucky that the fight happened just after we received a full heal - if it had happened before I think it would have been much more of a coin flip. It seems like we had more damage/hit points on our side - not sure if that was balanced by the various planets. I wonder if an early fight favors Earth and a later fight favors team Robot.

Definitely fun!

Thanks for running Beroli.
