At the risk of embarassing myself...it looks like it's actually possible to perform two immediate actions in a given round (but not every round), depending on where you consider the round boundary to be.The 13 Wise Buttlords wrote:Raging is an immediate action, however, limited to once a round. If the Fighter foils it once a round, which will get easier as he goes up in levels, the Barbarian is completely fucked.
On the barbarian's turn, he hits the fighter, attempts to rage, and the fighter foils. The fighter forfeits the swift action from his next turn and the barbarian forfeits the swift action from his current turn, because he took an immediate action during his turn.
On the fighter's turn, if he hits the barbarian, the barbarian can forfeit the swift action from his next turn to rage, and the fighter has no more swift/immediate actions with which to foil until the fighter's turn ends (unless he's level 13+ and has Array of Stunts).
Right?

Manxome:
I was hoping you were correct for the sake of Wizards everywhere (and their immediate-action goodness I do so enjoy) but it seems you were not.SRD wrote:You cannot use another immediate action or a swift action until after your next turn if you have used an immediate action when it is not currently your turn (effectively, using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn).
The Adventurer's Almanac wrote: ↑Fri Oct 01, 2021 10:25 pmNobody gives a flying fuck about Tordek and Regdar.
That doesn't appear to contradict what I said. Let me change the emphasis for you:
And the sentence immediately before the start of your quotation:SRD wrote:You cannot use another immediate action or a swift action until after your next turn if you have used an immediate action when it is not currently your turn (effectively, using an immediate action before your turn is equivalent to using your swift action for the coming turn).
SRD wrote:Using an immediate action on your turn is the same as using a swift action, and counts as your swift action for that turn.
Manxome's right. But anyway, what about the battle starting off foil range, or the barbarian getting initiative? That said, I do consider the fighter a quite better class.

So you get one swift action for every new turn even when it's not your own?

Let's say people just have swift actions. You have one when it's your turn. An "immediate action" is either just using the swift if it's your turn, or saying "I forfeit the swift from my next turn" if it's not.

No--but the fighter's actions and the barbarian's actions are reset at different times during the round.sigma999 wrote:So you get one swift action for every new turn even when it's not your own?
When your turn ends, you get a new immediate action, which you can use any time before your next turn. If you haven't used it by your turn, then you can choose to use it as a swift or immediate action during your turn. Then, when your turn ends, you get a new one.
Because the barbarian and fighter don't take their turns simultaneously, the barbarian can use one action, end his turn, and then use another immediate action all between two points at which the fighter's actions get refreshed. They both get a total of 1 swift or immediate per round, the switch from one round to another happens at a different time for each character. Their "rounds" are staggered.
Does that make any sense?

Also there's some anonymous [EDITED] who is going through and changing Races of War in the last few edits pretty substantially -- can someone with an account please revert that bullshit?
edit: Currently reverting, and reverting a ton of shit that people changed about the races. Wtf.

What I saw before was funny - now, I can't even laugh. Anyway, thanks, Mr. Kanter.

Maybe the best would be to just link the .pdf.

Good idea. I'll add a link to the 'source' PDF and the source documents that are here after I release version 0.6.
I'd be done by now, but I sorta overwrote my boot loader that booted Linux, which occupies the drive (and filesystem) that my PDF sources are contained on. Will fix that and update the PDF soon.

They should probably be faster; those things were made for speed. Also, the low wisdom is a little odd when ranger and barbarian are favored classes.ludomastro wrote:Awesome, my race - the Lacerti - is on the wiki now.

For example:
Becomes:The concept of honorable combat is pretty fishy when you look at it carefully. Your goal is to painfully kill another sapient being with a deadly weapon, and the other guy is attempting to do the same to you. Why then, would any rational person take time to consider the "honor" of whatever horribly painful and potentially lethal act they were intent upon inflicting on another?
They also removed the human subtype from aasimar, added a Charisma penalty to half-orcs, and changed the favored classes of orcs, goblins, and tieflings as well as a host of other strange edits. To some the concept of honorable combat is pretty fishy when looked upon, this is only because they are unable to grasp the concept of what honor truly means. The concept of "Your goal is to painfully kill another sapient being with a deadly weapon, and the other guy is attempting to do the same to you. Why then, would any rational person take time to consider the "honor" of whatever horribly painful and potentially lethal act they were intent upon inflicting on another?" or to the ideals of "Living life with integrety, courage, and virtue. A warrior who refuses to strike a prone enemy. The Sorcerer that vows to never use necromantic spells. A Rogue who steals everything with out shedding any blood. An assassin who evades every guard and only kills the main target. Or the Paladin who refuses to engage in battle against a defenseless being." Honor being a social or personal code of higher ethnical or morality, even against the odds.
The only change I could see any rationale for was shifting the goblin favored classes to rogue and ranger.
I apologize for letting that get by me. I'll keep a closer eye on the edit history from now on.CatharzGodfoot wrote:There were some really strange edits.K wrote:Really? He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Um... you guys know what a wiki is right? It's illogical to put something on a Wiki site and expect it to remain unchanged forever. And to then police it to make sure it stays intact.
If you just want to advertise the Tomes, then put a link to the Pdf and a disclaimer up that states the content on this wiki may have been changed from the original.

First race I ever bothered to design. Really intended as an NPC race that could be played if someone really wanted to.Surgo wrote:Weakest PC race ever.
An oversight, I would imagine. I didn't post it to the site.Bigode wrote:Yeah, it doesn't even have a fvcking size.
Point taken. Again, it was the first race I created. Also, I tend to go with organic creation rather that doing what the stats tell me to. They live in the wilderness in tribes and it made sense at the time.CatharzGodfoot wrote:They should probably be faster; those things were made for speed.
