The idea of a wiki is incremental improvement. If an edit consists entirely of ungrammatical drivel or arbitrary change for the sake of change, it's going to get reverted.

Umm, wikis have to be watched. Anyone can edit = lots of dumb edits. The goal isn't stasis but it also isn't random mutation.

I kind of feel like putting all the Tome classes/prcs/whatnot on individual pages. No way in hell is that going to be a manual feat though; I think a script that converts the LaTeX version in the PDF into wiki formatting should be pretty easy.

If you expect some kind of privileged-access group edit page, try Blogspot.
If wiki can somehow deny or allow access according to project director allowances, by all means do that.

Turns out Surgo's been busy. He's added most the Tome of Necromancy and Tome of Fiend classes, and a smattering of the Dungeonomicon and Races of War Base Classes.

Today, I added the Assassin, filled in the Jester, and put the Progenitor of the Gith and the Dungeon Veteran in the PrC section (the latter two because someone mentioned they liked them). Since someone put the Dungeonomicon Boneblade Reaper in the Tome of Necromancy, I just added that to the Boneblade Reaper page.

I need to finish putting in the table info for the Thief-Acrobat. I've been struggling with the table formatting, so I'm getting to the point where I don't want to look at them. :ohwell:
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

As it's a wiki, don't forget to include links to everything (including in-page stuff; that's what all those class feature templates that you haven't been using in the preload are for).

Okay, I think I've figured it out.

So, by my count, the Wiki has:

Necromancy:
Pretty much every ToN class, except the Uttercold Assault Necromancer.

Fiends:
All of the classes.

Dungeo:
Monk, Assassin, Jester, Thief-Acrobat, Progenitor of the Gith, Dungeon Veteran.

Needs: Monitor, Ninja of Gax, Elothar, Seeker, Defiler of Temples, Master of Snake Mountain.

Races of Wars:
Barbarian and Samurai. Needs: Fighter, Knight, the PrCs.

Also of interest: Kantian Paladin. Possibly so I can see the heads go "SPLODE".

Also, the internal links work.

I'm starting to get the hang of internal links...

OHH, so close!

There's a new Featured Article Nominee.

http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Gravity_Wa ... D_Class%29

If you look at the comments, Surgo and I have both chimed in. Check the Discussion page for our comments (mostly mine).

I almost, almost got through to him. Except the author's made up his mind that this is an attacking class, therefore it gets attack abilities. So, no, he doesn't want the class to be able to turn an area into difficult terrain or increase someone's encumbrance.

(Grumbles about going the generic attack-routine way) I was actually so intrigued by the class name, too.

If he's really worried about other "non-attack" options taking a round's worth of time, have him use swifts, immediates, and such for their casting time.

Wow. I persuaded someone!

This is by way of being an achievement for me, since I'm not good at debating and fall into traps from which there is no easy to extricate myself.

But I convinced someone that the Dungeonomicon Monk isn't that bad after he locked onto the "Save or Die" grandmaster Fighting Style.

I'm adding the Defiler of Temples, and noticed something.

It gets Desecrate as an at-will ability at 3rd level, so I have to ask:

Is that appropriate for Good characters? Shouldn't they be getting Consecrate if they're Good-aligned, and Desecrate if they're evil? I was pretty sure they were just opposite effects (except Desecrate can power up undead, and even moreso with an altar in its area). Is there something I'm missing here?

I could easily alter it to the alignment-matching, but I'd like a second opinion.

If I recall correctly, desecrate has 2 uses to consecrate's one. It can be used to cut an area off from a god's influence in addition to bolstering undead, and it is probably this latter use that is the focus of the ability for this class.

I really hate to get into another alignment argument but one good cleric might not really find the other good cleric's temple that great. Desecration could be appropriate in such a scenario.

Nah, both of the spells have those two uses, but you're probably right that it's designed to cut off divine influence instead of bolster/hinder undead. I don't know that the bolster/hinder is big enough deal to remove it, but if you really wanted to you could just rewrite the ability to cut off divine influence as either of the two spells and be good.

The Dwarven Cleric needs to be able to piss on a temple of Pelor or Collerian Lotharion.

Maybe the Defiler could just get both spells?

Done.

Okay, I added the Monitor and Defiler of Temples today. Not too bad.

Sometime, I'll get around to the Master of Snake Mountain, then maybe the Seeker, then Elothar and the Ninja of Gax.

Except that it's not needed, really.

Consecrate isn't limited by alignment, you can shut down any shrine not dedicated to your deity.

I believe in 3E, desecrate countered consecrate, but not the other way around. It seems to be changed, according to the SRD.

The reason is that good clerics are expected to go around wrecking evil altars and the like. <- regurgitated from my memory of Frank's explanation (should be somewhere in the original thread)

The 3rd edition version of consecrate did not have the secondary function of cursing altars to rival gods. However, the "secondary" function of both powers is usually the one you care about and is identical, so it honestly doesn't make any difference which one you have.

Okay, what the fuck is the class creation point system?

Someone reviewed the RoW Barbarian. They gave it generally good marks, except for Power, where they gave it a 1/5, claiming it's overpowered, and mentioned it should be rebuilt in accordance to the class construction point system.

http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Talk:Barba ... D_Class%29

I have honestly never heard of this, but I'm willing to bet it's crap.

I looked at it. Abilities significantly stronger than a single feat include a choice from three or more feats. Also, animal companions, cohorts, paladin mounts and FAMILIARS are all equally powerful and significantly better than a feat. One of these is as good as an equal level fighter, one of them is part of Core Leadership, one is really questionable, and one is an active liability. All of these are apparently worth twice as much as a single preselected feat. Limited arcane spellcasting (arcane spellcasting without direct damage) is worth half as much as full arcane spellcasting. Full arcane spellcasting, all else being equal, is three times as good as divine spellcasting or psionics. The whole thing blows.

If I cared enough to truly break it, I could put together a class that is supposedly as good as a fighter but has every feat used by either an ubercharger or a spiked chain tripper.
