I split off the railroading discussion into it's own thread. We were talking about Sandstorm. Let's go back to that.

And now watch as all of your dreams perish in a hell of sand! There's plenty of Deep Hurting left for you...
If you are under the strange delusion that having everything grind to a halt because of a sandstorm is anything remotely equivalent to entertainment, go watch MST3K #410: Hercules vs. the Moonmen. This will cure your delusion.
What about Stargate?
Re: Sandstorm: DnD effects for having sand in your shorts.
I browsed the book a bit today, and I see that Druids get a version of Barkskin that adds a deflection bonus, instead of an enhancement to natty armor.
Man! Good thing, too. I was worried that my Druid was underpowered.

God... not more druid buffs.
What is up with the 3E designers and their absolute hard on for druids?
Re: Sandstorm: DnD effects for having sand in your shorts.
I wonder if they're doing it on purpose or really have no idea how powerful the druid already is?

I have no idea. It's quite possible they've never actually used wild shape since they can't read and understand their own polymorphing rules.
Then again, Ed Stark is a munchkin... so he may be doing it on purpose.
Re: Sandstorm: DnD effects for having sand in your shorts.
Druids are a class where Research = power. If you don't research your Wildshape forms and your spell options and you run around and pick them willy-nilly, you are a weak support class. If you PrC and don't get Wildshape and spells, you are screwed.
I mean, there are people who can't do even the basic research(see
[counturl=12]here[/counturl]).

Re: Druids
Reading that link caused me physical pain. Were people seriously suggesting that you take levels that don't advance animal companions and then take levels of Beastmaster in order to catch up? Why doesn't someone walk back and forth with a deceptively small sharp object putting these people out of my misery?

It's really not much research, all the animals for most of your levels are located in two places. Animals and Dire animals.
And while there are a few scattered through some of the other MMs, you don't even need them. Just being a dire animal is generally good enough to make you awesome.

That thread was pretty unreal. Reminds me of the WotC boards...
BTW K, heavy armor proficiency in superfluous if you're just using it Wild[shaped].

Some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them.
In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.

So I double-checked it. The class is called a Sandshaper and the first level costs you a caster and spell progression level and adds 41 spells to your list of spells known (with a distributon that is bottom heavy with +7 spells at 1st level and +1 spells at 9th level, and a fat +11 spells at 4th level). Thats a vertical power boost that I would just have to make as a Sorcerer (after I had gotten access to my 4th level spells, of course).
One level dips into non-caster levels are Ok if you get totally kickass benefits. It costs one feat, an adventure, and small amounts of skill points.

If you get a reasonable amount of diversity within those spells that is quite nice. Whether it is worth a caster level for the already lagging behind sorcerer is another matter - depends on the group makeup I guess. It is nice to see a decent prestige class for sorcerers though.
