If the nanomachine infection had its intelligence removed, it would do all of the above. Doesn't even matter if that will never happen in the game, because the possibility is right there.

I have no idea if this would allow a "PF" (bleh) to astrally project, though they should be able to trigger it in the host.

That said, the other magic-based ways to cure the infection were ridiculously crude. "Thousands of micro-effect Pulse spells" used to try and burn it out of a brain is the best they can think of. The infection there was "somehow" able to change to better resist the spell as it was cast.

Oh, and the Infected can't be hosts, possibly because they have no souls. The experiments for this were laughable though.

so, appearantly they are now selling an "errataed" SR5 core book as the 1 year anniversary edition . .

and seem to be getting into dlc style releases with pdfs not including some stuff to make you buy the next pdf already in line as well . .

I'm so ashamed of having bought the SR5 pdf on release. Now I'm really curious (in a car-crash-rubber-necking kind of way) what changes they're making.

Hopefully someone takes one for the team and reviews this re-release, cause I sure as fuck am not giving any more money to those clowns.

That is basically fanmade errata pushed through by ONE of the Freelancers alone.
MOST of this had already been found BEFORE the Book had been released . .
Because of the stupidity that was the preview things and not waiting for feedback before sending it to the printers . .

Nothing new there. Hardy has been ignoring proofreading comments way back in SR4. Part of the problem is that much of the proofreading occurs during or after layout, and nobody wants to reflow the text. Also, Jason is a terrible developer who doesn't give a fuck because he can't tell shit writing from good.

Nah, the proper way to do it is to sell an edit credit to someone who might want it for the CV (such as a college kid), "pay" the kid for the job (that may or may not get done) with the company's money and pocket both.

Yesterday we had a post updating Missions; today it’s time to talk a little about the main line.

I’m going to start with a disclaimer: Much of this is going to be vague, perhaps frustratingly so. But that’s because there are some things going on that are simply not for public consumption, as they relate to the personal lives of people involved, and I don’t feel appropriate to share some elements in a business post.

The past half-year has been chaotic for Shadowrun. Chaos and lots of work is not new, but the nature of the chaos was different. Some of it involved different systems that have been set up over time, including the proofing system, not working as they had; others involved trying new types of products, and the inevitable mistakes that come with trying something new. Catalyst is a small company, and there is almost no redundancy built into it. When something breaks down, it’s difficult to fix it on the fly, and repairs don’t always come quickly as time is short.

One of the results of this chaos was that product proofing was not what it always should be. That’s not at all the fault of any proofers—it was a problem of my process and Catalyst’s process. As new processes were being built, I made some mistakes in judging what would work. I learned from the mistakes, and they have led to changes that will make the new processes stronger.

The good news is that most of the chaos has now passed. Systems that were not working right are back to regular functioning, or have been rebuilt so that they will work better going forward. Some of this was discussed in yesterday’s post, so one thing you can expect is more regular Missions. What else should you expect?
•More regular releases of books;
•More accurate, more reliable rules documents;
•Release of errata for Run & Gun and Street Grimoire by the end of summer or sooner.

We hope to use the changes and processes we have in place to provide books and more that will improve your Shadowrun experience and make you excited about the options you can introduce to your game!

Just found something special:
Back when the Kickstarter for SR Online was running, they showed off some music that was going to be in the game. Some of the songs (mainly industrial rock, which fits SR) were made by a guy named Walter "Gearcrack" Machado.

Well, it seems even good old Walter lost his confidence in SR Online, because he now recycled the soundtrack in a cyberpunk game he made himself! It's a very bad game, but I guess Walter is still more comfortable in seeing his music in that game, than in the failed Shadowrun one.

I dare you, the game is total shit and not even worth the 1€, but if anyone is in for finding out where content from SR Online has gone, then check out the game "Gearcrack Arena" on Steam. That's how low the project has sunk.

I wasn't aware there was a new card game until I saw a demo at Gen Con.

I know nothing other than the game had six designers, four of whom are no-names and one is tied to D&D 4E. That's a red flag.

I played the demo of this at PAX East two years ago. The game's OK and the mashup of cooperative and deck building sounds like it might be a fun set of mechanics to play with. Unfortunately, the demo came out pretty dull and it doesn't look like they've done much other than polish the art since then.

I've wondered going forward, has to be better way to do accounting of "Essence" or Augmentation slots. While 6.0 is small, getting into decimals seems lot more complicated than it needs to be, especially for most people. Would it be better if it was done in more whole values like 60? I know it couldn't really be currently implemented without redoing entire catalogs of Augmentations, their values, including quality grades to be redone to accommodate for new discounted value that'd be easier to implement without a calculator ideally.

Also, never played Cyberpunk 2020, I've heard it's tech is less advanced (cell-phones in your head are big deal), but supports Walking Gundam men. How doable is that in Cyberpunk 2020, is it a end-game path only, and does its "essence/Aug-slot equivalent" system it probably has better than Shadowruns in any way?
