I think TA is making a joking reference to the fact that normal non-Euclidean geometry includes ovals or spheres, but the only non-Euclidean that fantasy/sci-fi authors or anyone connected to the mythos* ever references is "bigger on the inside than the outside" or "look at the architecture on R'lyeh".
*Defined in this case as "anyone who has seen the Yellow Sign".

I agree. Hence it is far, far more likely that "nondimensional" was mis-edited and should have been "extradimensional".Kaelik wrote:Not all editing mistakes are equally likely
As this entire useless debate is predicated upon both of us making assumptions about something we can never know for certain, I suggest it be tabled. There are better things to do.

There was a Sage clarification about this about 3 years ago, I think. Forgive me for not searching it up at the moment, but the gist of it was that only the BoH and PH had problematic interactions because of their specific rules. The soft restrictions on everything else were ultimately meaningless because they didn't spell out a consequence. The Sage then went on to state that you could safely open some extradimensional spaces inside other extradimensional spaces. I think there was a few spaces that were simply suppressed while they were inside another space.Lich-Loved wrote:There are plenty of rules in the 3e SRD that are bizarre. Unless there was errata or a Sage clarification on it (and there vwery well could have been), then it is a leap to assume it was an editing artifact.Emerald wrote:From what I can see, the note in the 3e version is an editing artifact, nothing more.
I'm still not sure that it was. Generally speaking "extradimensional spaces" were often located somewhere (often the astral place) and when ruptured would break open into astral space. "nondimensional spaces" when ruptured led to the void.Lich-Loved wrote:I agree. This probably carried over through the editions even though the original meaning was lost.
Going back to the use of Tardis hand waving science, "nondimensional" space was referenced once at the end of Tom Baker's tenure when the Tardis was moved to safety by the doctor to protect his companions when the universe was falling apart becuase of entrophy.
Which is completely different from the non space of TOMTIT. (At least I think it is.)

I surrender! Henceforth I shall agree that the text in the Rope Trick spell is an editing oversight. I stand corrected.tzor wrote:I'm still not sure that it was. Can we put this to bed now? Please?
