I don't think I've ever thought I'd see art of a Smurf and think "that's pretty bad ass".

But... this is a pretty bad ass concept design.

Taking something that's essentially a smurf and making it bad ass is really nothing new. Look up the pictsies of Discworld.

This one is a work still in progress done by a buddy of mine:

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

Not particularly bear like, but cool nonetheless.

No, no, I can see it. It's definitely a more 50/50 blend, though.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

I suppose, the limbs are just very much not-bear-like, and the proportion and movement ability of their limbs compared to their body is the most recognizable thing about bears.

It looks more like a great cat than a bear to me.

It looks more like a dragon with feathers and a falcon head.

I think if they went with the same owl-body and an ursine face losing the beak entirely that would have been way better. Looks like for most folks there doesn't seem to be enough bear in the owlbear.

The more I look at the winglet things, the more ridiculous they are.

The shoulder socket for the wing... is a misdirected finger joint?

That's what I was thinking. Reminds me of how the Dragons look in Skyrim.

Thanks. Now I'm going to have nightmares for a week.
Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

The best part is they're all real creatures. Living possibly on your skin.

The WIPP's "messages to the future" seems like a cool thing to draw inspiration from given how popular the "evil sealed away by a long gone advanced civilization" trope is.
