World War 3
India and China are building up their militaries.
Chinese troops are violating Indian territory.
What does this mean? It means that the two most populous countries on Earth are flirting quite severely with war. There is no chance in hell that such a conflict would remain contained to South Asia.

Speaking of nuclear powers, who else is up for building and Orion rocket and giving Earth the finger?

I have to confess I'm not really understanding the motives at work here. Isn't a land-war in Asia still a bad idea? More importantly, how can two nuclear powers contemplate invasion without that whole "mutually assured destruction" thing reigning them in?
I'm curious of the political environment over there. Anyone know what direction India and China are taking their respective countries and why that involves a really messy war?

anyway, as to MAD, I don't think these two countries are thinking of that, I think they're going with more of a "lay dick on the bar, start measuring" line of thought here.
Cuz apparently I gotta break this down for you dense motherfuckers- I'm trans feminine nonbinary. My pronouns are they/them.

You should gain sanity for finding out that the problems of a region are because there are fucking monsters there.

Law of implausible threats. Large quantities of nukes work so that they only matters if only one side has them.Shatner wrote:More importantly, how can two nuclear powers contemplate invasion without that whole "mutually assured destruction" thing reigning them in?
Until you bring government-funded terrorism into the mix.

Why?SunTzuWarmaster wrote:I thought China would destroy India, until reading report of India buying aircraft carriers from Russia... That makes the whole thing interesting. Why the fuck would those 2 countries fight each other though?
...
Because they can.
That's all I ever see for a reason.

What possible benefit does either country get out of going to war or even antagonizing the other?
Like, even if either country surrendered unconditionally to the other one and let them plunder their countryside/enslave their women/whatever, what's the point? It seems like just the costs of looting the other country and taking their stuff would barely make the whole enterprise worthless, let alone if they had to spend blood and treasure to win it.
And hey, nukes! That just makes the whole endeavor completely pointless.

Quick answer: pre-existing tensions over disputed borders and regional influence. IIRC the Chinese and Indian armies have been glaring at each other across a glacier at 18,000ft since the mid '60s. I think Prak_Anima was right to typify it as little more than a dick-measuring contest though...SunTzuWarmaster wrote:Why the fuck would those 2 countries fight each other though?
See the (hotly disputed) wikipedia article on the Sino-Indian War of 1962 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sino-Indian_War) for a quick overview of the whole stupid situation.
The rules serve the game, not vice versa.
