I think I might be getting stalked

So, just twenty minutes ago or so (2:46 AM local time), I get the most random call. Phone conversation as best I remember it:

Me: Hello.
Girl: [Silence]
Me: Hello?
Girl: Hello.
Me: Ummm, who is this?
Girl: Wouldn't you like to know.
Me: Yeah, I kind of would. I'm a bit confused at the moment.
Girl: You'll find out soon enough. -click-

And from the area code I know it's somebody from my college area and not any of my old HS friends. The voice I didn't recognize (and while I'm bad at faces, voices are fairly distinct for me).

There are a couple explanations I can think of:
1) I'm being stalked. Creepy.
2) Somebody I know is playing a prank on me. Possible, but I can't think of anybody that matches this humor that would match up with the area code.
3) The girl exchanged numbers with me at some point and I deleted her number because I didn't think I'd ever call it again.
4) It's a girl that has my number, but I don't have her number. Not too many of these, but there are probably at least a dozen out there.

So yeah, I'm a little bit confused right now. I'm hoping it's just one of my friends pranking me because the other options are either bad (stalker) or make me look like an ass (not recognizing the girl's voice).

Heh. I know about weird phone calls in the night...

Like, there's evidently a woman out there named Kitty, who uses my Mom's cell number (a plausible enough combination of digit and easy to remember) as her fake phone number.

We've been woken up in the middle of the night--and in the ungodly hours of the morning--by men asking if Kitty's here.

Prank call is a very likely thing you might have to consider. Prank calls are often done late at night apparently according to a very specious source (The News)

Well, with some investigation I've pretty much ascertained it was some guy's phone and not a girl's. Based on the timing, tone, and fact that it wasn't him, I'm going to assume that he and that girl were at a party or something and she tried to call for a ride, but got a digit wrong and just bullshitted when she realized she had a wrong number.

Yeah. It sounds kinda like the drunk calls that we've gotten from chicks who've stolen my brother's cell (and the cell phones of a couple of his friends) because they think it's cute. There's nothing quite like it at three in the morning. If my brother and his friends are on the more aware side of things, we're graced with a follow-up call to explain what just happened - just as we're getting back to sleep.

Glad it wasn't serious.

Wow. That pretty much sums up the last woman I dated. Or rather, when I told her that I wasn't interested in her romantically she called me a clingy bitch, then when I told her that lack of communication is one of the few things that will make me angry these days, she altered between sobbing and apologizing and repeating said claims of me being pathetic. (I consider the source on those comments.)

We're friends again, and she seems irritated that I don't drop a goddamn thing to be with her and don't feel motivated to hang out with her now. And gets mad when I talk about the women I talk to. (However, she is willing to buy a hotel room for me to go with her to the Maryland ren fair to keep me from bringing one of my many female friends to split the room. But she doesn't want to share a room with me herself.)

I really need to get better crazy detection, or else dating is going to be problematic.

In fact, I'd venture that everyone on this board has issues of some sort or another. Most of us have the good taste to STFU about it though.

And as I've said before, I honestly have no clue what you're talking about. Yes, I am pissed at certain women, but all things considered I think that the women who have raised my ire pretty much have done so deliberately.

I mean, come on. I think that as much as I've been kicked around, the amount of positive thinking I have is in fact heroic.

I am getting better. It seems to help to treat them as a different species entirely. Still sentient, but not likely to be able to communicate in ways I properly understand. And also tend more often than not to be selfish as fuck.

You might make a good point there, Kommissar Frank, but what about "good for the bee that is bad for one or two other bees"? I mean, I'd argue I'm selfish, but not in any sort of way that affects society as a whole, just that might piss a few other people off. Does it really have an affect on the country if I tell donation-people "No, fuck off, I'm so poor YOU should be giving ME money" or buy two bags of crisps and then consume them both?

Or does that really only apply to the bigger picture?

Or am I reading it wrong and it's supposed to come across as "If anything is bad for the hive, then it can't actually be good for the bee (if it isn't bad for the hive, nobody gives a shit)"?

Want to be mean to a squirrel? Get a nice large piece of white bread and layer it with peanut butter. They really don’t know how to “divide” the slice so they fight over it and then it’s really hard to carry so they literally climb up the tree backwards with the whole slice in their mouth. Fun to watch.

Well, a few things. 1) Bees don't ever do anything bad for other bees either, really. There are some notable exceptions, but they also are rarities, and the hive polices that shit.

2) If people are selfish, they are easy to understand and totally sane. All you have to do is make sure that it is in their best interest to not do something that hurts you. That's good, and way easy. It's also that anyone who is not selfish is actually insane, and totally unpredictable.

3) I was also speaking mostly in the context of Counts "Women are selfish, so I can't date them." thing, because the point is that selfish women are good, because when you are dating them, you/they are making their happiness dependent on yours. So the more happy they want to be, the more happy they will attempt to make you. That's a good thing.

4) All 'altruism' is done because people gain benefits from it. People give money because the difference in feeling they get: level of guilt vs level of 'I'm such a good person' is worth more than what the money they had could have bought them. So the kind of selfishness that values money not that much and happiness more is fine, but it's still selfishness, and therefore, still sane.
