I created a Superhero RPG
THE SUPER HERO GENRE IS ABOUT THE STRUGGLE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. IT DEALS WITH THE MYSTERIOUS AND MIRACULOUS IN A SYMBOLIC WAY. ANYONE WHO DOESN'T REALIZE THAT SUPERHEROES ARE ABOUT RELIGION, ISN'T REALLY PAYING ATTENTION.

I took a quick look at it. There doesn't seem to be any sort of balance between the different abilities. Strength also seems to get mad hacks (possibly equaled by using telekinesis to do the same thing). Having your number of actions a round based on a stat is bad. Especially when it's linear cost and has a range of 1 to 3 (200% increase) actions per round.

1)Abilities are ballanced by a combination of power up cost and energy cost.
2)What exactly are "mad hacks"
3)Actually the number of actions for players will always be 2 or 3 no player class has a speed of 1

Don't you only get to pick like ten powers or whatever? Some are totally story abilities that don't do anything (you're rich, but this doesn't do anything) and others are "You get to be big and add 2 to your Str whenever you feel like it. Yielding crit successes on all str based checks"LAST CRUSADER wrote:1)Abilities are ballanced by a combination of power up cost and energy cost.
The Str score seemed to have a lot of ways to boost it unlike other scores.2)What exactly are "mad hacks"
That's still a variable amount of actions, which is generally pretty terrible design.3)Actually the number of actions for players will always be 2 or 3 no player class has a speed of 1

1)First of all you get 10 power ups which you use to buy powers, some powers cost just one power up but some cost 2 or 4.
Next, wealth is a major advantage in most games especially if you don't take flight. it also fits the background story for a lot of characters. Finally being big carries it's own problems which is why gigantic is a disadvantage (if you don't take growth) and the only things you roll using str for are breaking free from physical bonds and causing damage.
The Str score seemed to have a lot of ways to boost it unlike other scores.
2) forgive me for being old but to me calling it a hack suggests that it isn't something the game designer planned. Comes from the old expression "hackers". but surely you didn't mean that because this was something I had in mind. it's ballanced by the fact that strength has NO RANGE a big problem for a lot of characters, once again, especially if you can't fly. and there are bonuses available for other powers as well.
That's still a variable amount of actions, which is generally pretty terrible design
3) what makes it a bad design ? Fast characters get one extra action and some really slow npcs get run over. what's wrong with that ?

On 1 and 2: Yeah, I skimmed it. I'll see if I can look into if my first impressions were actually right about anything... when I get to it.
3: Screen time is one thing. Also, it costs exactly the same as every other stat. Everyone ever should be getting a 3 in it to improve their primary action by 50% at the expense at some stat that doesn't matter (like strength from the way you make it sound).

not saying strength doesn't matter just saying it's ballanced. You'll see

Personally, I find myself irritated by the setting assumptions. The GM guide seems to suggest that you deliberately strip out most of a world's potential for complexity, verisimilitude, and depth. I much prefer less superficial games. Then again, I'm generally uninterested in traditional comics, so I'm probably not part of the target audience.
