ePSXe doesn't seem to be doing stuff for me

Post by koz »

More specifically, I am trying to play FF9 on it. I have the image, which I got from emuparadise, from their new link list here. I think I did everything correctly, including dealing with the multi-layered disk thing by using the CUE file in my DaemonTools, and I ran disk 1 successfully without a hitch (although it wasn't multi-layered). However, every time I run (or try to run) it with disk 2's ISO, whether through ePSXe's internal function or by using DaemonTools, I get absolutely no result at all.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you make sure that when you run the cd (the mounted image in daemon tools) that ePSXe is set to read the proper drive? D or E or whatever it actually is mounted at?

ePSXe is set to read the correct virtual drive, yes.

What plugins are you using? Also look in the "special game fixes" button in the video config menu.

Just a heads up... Your post is pregnant... When you miss that many periods it's just a given.

My plugins are:

Video: P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.18 (set to 'Nice', but with window mode instead of fullscreen)

Audio: P.E.Op.S. DSound Audio Driver 1.9 (default settings)

CD: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K Core 1.7.0 (set to my virtual drive from DaemonTools Lite)

The 'special game fixes' section doesn't seem to have anything for FF9. What's even more confusing is that Disk 1 still works fine, but this wasn't a multi-layered image that I had to load as a CUE file into my DaemonTools while said CUE file was in the same directory as the extracted BIN file.

What I get when I run this is just a black window that doesn't do anything. This also tends to be the startup cycle of Disk 1 when I run it, but it only lasts for about 10 seconds before starting the game. If I try to run it off Disk 1, and then (I have a savegame at completion of Disk 1) when I try to run my save, it prompts me to change disks. When I try to do so, nothing happens.
