[Immortals] A campaign pitch

Post by Gnyahaha »

I love Highlander the movie and the series. There, I said it. Its great and despite numerous bad movies, I still find the idea of immortal swordsmen waging a secret war through the centuries apealing.

So, my idea is this. The nature of the immortals remains unchanged (as in the Highlander movie), but the Quickening is an event that is expressed through the worlds Mind, its collective unconciousness. The Earth generates immortals among the breeding stock of its dominant species to protect it in times of crisis as guardians. When an immortal slays another immortal, he siphons his power and grows stronger.

The Mind of the Earth is a vast vault of knowledge, stored in the planets conciousness since time immemorial, containing information from every intelligent species that have lived on its surface. Human immortals have access to it, but it is limited, which is represented by the Quickening.

When an immortal dies, the surviving immortal absorbs his knowledge to become a more powerful defender of the planet (like Rising Stars) but most immortals have been unable to figure it out so far.

An old cult, the Society of the Unwithering Rose has discovered and verified the existance of immortals and attempts to crack their secret of immortality, in an attempt to become immortals themselves. They do not interfere in the matters of immortals and attempt to either aid them or hinder them, according to their agenda.

The campaign starts off at Mesopotamia, 4000 years prior to this date and moves through important historical periods, where the immortals fight off inhuman invaders that threaten mankind and the planet itself. Slowly, the immortals should realise they are the worlds defence system and that their number has risen. Something wicked this way comes.

Ideas/suggestions?

I thought this was going to be yet another derivative game like Immortal the Invisible War.

But then I saw

And that makes it unique. Who wouldn't want to play in a game of swordfighting krill?

"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."
