I remember seeing something about something like this on wizards forums billions of years ago before 4.5 crushed the forums.

(A warlock can supposedly optimize to push people 500' or something eery eldritch blast then do an extra d6 of damage for every 5 feet?)

Was this the 4E or 3E Warlock?
In 4E, the Blood Mage has a power that deals damage for every square you push someone, although I think it may have been nerfed in the errata flood.
In 3E, the path to Real Ultimate Warlock Power is combining the Hellfire Warlock with things that give virtual class levels - either bloodlines or the Weapons of Legacy one. Also Eldritch Glaive + ways to move for free.
