Howdy there.
I wanna apply the "post-currency" economy on a Pathfinder game, but I am having trouble thinking how it would work with players and their item creation feats. Would they be able to gain 500gp a day (by crafting +1 cloaks of resistance):
a) and eventually create a 200kgp magical item, and that's ok.
or
b) and they would still need "higher forms of currency" to buy the materials necessary to create magical items costing more than 15kgp.
or
c) none of the above?

To answer your question, if you want to run on the Wish economy, probably B would be your best answer. You can make infinite money with Wish 15k at a time and you can wish items into existence that are worth up to 15k, so by extension anything with a value more than 15k is actually worth more than infinite money. Anything you can't wish into existence is literally more valuable than all the money in the world, because you can create all the money in the world given time and enough summonings.
The usual cutoff point is 15000 gold. If a magic item (such as a +1 cloak of resistance) costs less than that, the item (or the materials to make one) can be purchased with gold alone. If it costs more than that, then the item cannot be bought for gold and the items required to make it can only be had by spending one of those "higher forms of currency". That being said, the 15K limit is essentially arbitrary - it's based off the 3.0E version of Wish and has little to no relevance to Pathfinder. There's no particular reason why it should even be based on gold at all - why not say that any item which requires a caster level of 10 or higher to make can only be bought with the sort of currency that is valuable to someone who can Plane Shift?caladfel wrote:I wanna apply the "post-currency" economy on a Pathfinder game, but I am having trouble thinking how it would work with players and their item creation feats.
This is not actually true in Pathfinder. They removed the "Mundane Wealth" and "Create a Magic Item" options from Wish specifically so that people couldn't bypass their WBL by wishing for huge piles of cash. That's not to say you can't use magic to make money (Fabricate crafting is alive and well, Plane Shift can still take you to planes full of rare gemstones and using your unnatural magical powers to demand tribute will never go out of style), it just means that Wish isn't the spell you want to use anymore.TheFlatline wrote:You can make infinite money with Wish 15k at a time.

From what I recall, higher forms of currency are actually the materials needed to make high level magic items. Which is why powerful beings will trade in planar currencies, they have intrinsic magical value and uses.

If you like Lucky Star then I will explain in great detail why Lucky Star is the a shitty shitty anime for shitty shitty people, and how the characters have no interesting abilities at all, and everything is poorly designed especially the skill challenges.
Option B. Here I made a thread about it. http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=54728
